The max for a post is like what 4,999 right? I think a new post for the review bar might be needed soon, not that soon I think.

The max post is technically 5,000... But, we really do need a new bar thread soon.

And we should beg people to give more in-depth reviews. One to two sentences don't qualify as a quality review.

..O_O, I thought reviews go on the....@_@ ahh, chapter review area, not the post? Unless you mean something else? I know the recommendation post is not descriptive enought..O_O

The description is vague because this is a free board.

We aren't going to force people into giving the "right" kind of reviews. And that's one of the things that makes this such a great place.

...O_O..?? Well, I don't know what she is talking about, but I understand her about short reviews. It is suggested that when we give reviews we should give good ones and not ones like, "It is good" or "I don't like it." I mean, I think that is what most people look for, detailed review. I would like to know what was good or what was bad, I mean I don't just want people to stroke my ego or anything; I don't need it. It doesn't help much with a comment like that, it won't make a persons' writing better or help them in any way.

Agreed. Completely.

BUT! We're not going to force anybody to give the "right" kinds of reviews. I'm pretty sure that as it stands, you don't have to return a review that says nothing but "It's good" or "I don't like it." And in my opinion, that's just enough; we don't need more rules.

Perhaps instead of making it a full rule, we could just mention to people in the bar that they can make special requests. For example, sometimes people make requests for reviews on certain chapters. Can't we just let patrons know that, if they want good, thick CC, they should request it? If someone just wants a reader, and doesn't mind a 'quickie' review, they can request that as well. Plus, some of the short reviews are pretty good in that they do point out something that needs to be fixed (example: Great story, but the action scene moved a bit too quickly.). If we regulate how long a review needs to be, that sort of takes away from the 'order up' atmosphere, in my opinion, though I do understand that people 'want what they paid for'/ proper reciprocation (hee). However, the patrons I know seem to be pretty open with requesting exactly what they want in return, including the story and what sort of review they need.

Just thought I'd drop in, since I keep reading these updates...I hope I haven't gotten too off subject here :)

EDIT: Sorry, I was trying to address the idea of making reviews "longer". The new rules do state that a good review is needed in return and it says that "normally" one-liners aren't considered that good (like my example, heehee--it was late, ok?). I think what Nate's trying to say is that it shouldn't get to the point where, say, you're required to point out a certain number of items to be address and then asked to add the why, or to have a certain number of sentences. Sorry if my wording was confusing or contradictory. Until reading this debate, I didn't even realize we were having a problem with "bad" reviewing or anything like that :(

That sounds great to me. I just don't want any more rules; there are already a couple too many for my liking.

And the whole "reviews have to be yay long" thing is biased in favor quantity rather than quality; one of the reasons I can never excell in English classes is that for me a short-answer question calling for "three or four sentences" can usually be answered in one or two; any more and I'll start going off-topic. Brevity is one of my strengths.

Um, but ain't it already a rule? If you check the first post of the Review Bar, the Admin stated it..O_O

Doesn't mean people read it anymore...

Anywho, we have another thread that needs to be deleted, because someone didn't realize we had a thread in which to request reviews...

lol, yeah..I didn't know people don't read the very first post. I do for any new ones; new to me; to see what it is about..O_OI assume a lot..., but I agree with one thing (alittle of topic) "Common Sense is a very contradiction idea".

I just hope that someone will notice this...(sighs) Anyway, I'd like to invite everyone to join fpawunlimited.ning.com, a fast-growing social network for FP authors. I created it, so I hope you visit it.
