The pair made it to the farm.

"MA!" she yelled, rather loudly for a sweet little girl. "Auggie's hurt!"

Auggie waited for her.

Lily and her mother once again brought him onto the porch, Lily holding his good hand while Mary fixed his other arm.

"How do you find yourself in these messes, boy?" she asked. "Your mother's gonna stop letting you come over."

His eyes were wide with the fear of that, and he squeezed Lilly's hand.

"Hold still."

Mary chuckled.

"Look at Lily. Poor thing looks terrified."

He locked his eyes om Lilly's soft face.

Lily smiled, trying to be brave. She could never, ever be a nurse,

He held her hand, trying to smile back.

Lily ran towards Auggie, practically leaping into his arms.

"I passed!" she exclaimed. "Ags, I passed!"

He grinned, hugging her. "Oh shh,I knew you would!"

She laughed.

"They want me to apply to the teaching position in Richmond."

He frowned. "That's far."

She nodded.

"They'd have me stay in a boarding house."

"I'd come and vist," he smiled.

"I'd come home on the weekends."

"You better!"

She chuckled.

"I'm so proud of you Lilly!" He gave her a peck on the lips.

She kissed him back and smiled.

"What about you?" she asked. "How did you do on the exams?"

"C+"

"What did your mum say?" she asked, biting her lip.

"She sort epects it."

She smiled and put her head on his shoulder.

"I think you turned out just fine."

"Thanks, honey."

She kissed him softly and looked up at him.

"Could you do me a favor?" she asked.
