April came over to him, her bright red haired pulled back into a ponytail like usual. "It's over?"

He nodded. "The Republic..its gone!"

She put her arms around his and kissed his cheek. "So what are you going to do now?"

She smiled, "My little soldier."

He gave sad grin.

"How are you feeling though darling?" she asked softly, "This has got to be hard on you and all the soldiers...."

"Pretty bad." he pulled her close.

She put a hand up to touch his cheek. "I'm sorry we lost," she whispered, "I've been looking forward to it being over but I'd always believed that in the end we would be on the winning side."

"It was all Mick's doing..now he's dead. But it did slove anything.."

April just kissed him again. "Well...right now I guess I should be thankful that you are still with me...."

"Yes." he nodded.

She reached for his hand and squeezed it. "Let's go inside. You need to figure out what you are going to do now."

He nodded.

Pulling him into the house April sighed and started moving around in the kitchen, getting him something to eat since she figured he would be hungry. "Do you think you will still be a soldier?"

"If there is still an irish Repuban Army..but the Free State has its own. There can't be two."

April sighed and sat a plate of biscuits down on the table in front of him. "You'll find something," she said with a sigh.

"What?" he didn't much feel like eating.

She shrugged, "Surely there's some other job that you are interested in?"

"Nothing that'll benift this goverment."

Sitting down beside him April kissed him on the lips quickly. "But you have to find something or else we won't be able to support ourselves..."

"Maybe I could teach.."

"Yes that is something," April replied.

"I could teach at a prvitie school."

"That would be wonderful James," April said pushing the plate towards him, "Here eat something.."

He picked at it.

She sighed, "Please just eat one..."

He munched on it.

"Thank you," she told him reaching over and patting his hand before eating one herself. "Do you want to get some rest? I'm sure things will seem alittle better in the morning."
