Kate shivered and burried her face in Albie's neck,

"What's going to happen to us, Albie?"

“I don’t know..” he said stroking her hair.

She sighed and closed her eyes tightly at the sound of more shells.

He held her tight and waited for them to stop. “I’m sorry..” he whispered.

"Don't be." she answered him, opening her eyes and smiling a little at him, "I couldn't very well leave you alone here, could I?" she asked, hugging him.

“Oh Katie,” he cried pulling her close.

She managed a strangled giggled into his chest and bit her lip. She wished this could all be over and she could take Albie away somewhere safe.

He laid a careful, light, kiss on her forehead.

Kate smiled and just kept hugging him.

"Thankyou, Albie." she mumbled into his front, her cheeks pink.

He covered her until he was sure the English were gone.

Rory entered the room,fresh blood covering his face and arms.A piece of glass was jutting out of his index finger.

His face looked pale and tired.Black rings under his eyes.

He put his back to a wall and slumped to the ground then dropped his rifle.His gaze wandered around the room before he closed his eyes to rest.

April saw Rory slump against the wall and came over kneeling by his side. "Mr," she said, "Mr. Are you alright?"

Rory's eyes fluttered open,looking dazed at first he yawned."Yeah.Brits are gone.I'm alive.Another good day.How are you holding up?You look like you havn't got a wink of sleep"

"That's because I haven't," she said, "There's a lot of work to do and you look like you can use some care too."

James came over “He gonna be alright, Roy?” his eyes full of worried.

Using his rifle to balance him,Rory stumbled to his feet."I'm fine"he grunted."Tend to the men who actually have wounds"

"You need care too Roy," April said, "Please let me look at you."

"Why me?While there are men bleeding for no reason!"he barked

Some men glanced over to them while others started whispering to themselves.

"But look at you," April said, "You have blood all over you too."

“Roy you need to get patched up, its an order.”

Rory mumbled something before nodding"Alright."he said."But if they come back wake me up.I can't lie down while my men are getting blown to bits.I have a duty to stand by my men.You should know that more than anyone James."

"Alright, come on," April said taking him by the arm and leading him to a bed, "Let's take a look at you."

Rory knew he wouldn't be able to stand for much longer,so he was grateful to be able to sit down.

"I suppose I better link my hands and pray to the almighty eh?"he laughed."Or am I ok to go?"

She smiled at him briefly before starting to look him over. "Pray all you want Rory."

((He has cuts along his arms from glass breaking and a glass shard sticking out of his index finger.Oh and he is shot in the arm.))

"Nah"he waved a hand dissmisively."I'm not much of a religious man.My mother would kill me for it but I don't care.How about yourself?Talk to the man in the sky much?"

"Sometimes," she answered, "When I feel the need."

She noticed his shot arm. "Hold still, I have to get the bullet out of your arm."

"Easier said than done missy"he said "Alright,make it quick"

Carefully April picked up a pair of tweasers and started to work the bullet out.

Rory grimaced"You sure you know what you're doing woman?"
