Topic: politics is corrupted

While I admit, that one side of mainstream politics is really much better then the other, I'll not want to vote away my freedom. The Republicans, does tend to agree with capitalism and desires a strong upholding of the American dream, but hell, why do they want to be such big Platonists? For fuck's sake, why play the Saint's of the world. Goddammit, leave that job up to the nuns!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Then, with Democrats it's all about sharing and making people all happy. Haven't we learnt, that really it's the elites that run our country, and to share our wealth instead of letting people invest in markets is going to destroy us.

Really, doesn't anyone remember the philosopher, Marx?

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need?"

And, that didn't go well in the USSR, did it?

I assume you're American?

Politics is horribly corrupted, but I still believe that occasionally you can find a choice that's better than the other choices. I voted Democratic, because at least they didn't have McCain and Palin. And I much prefer people who want things to be fair and happy over people who claim to be oh so very morally upright and act like pretentious bastards who can't practice what they preach. Obama is hardly perfect, but he's way better than the alternative.

Besides, the Democrats are hardly going to turn the country to socialism. Even if they wanted to, public opinion would destroy them before they had a chance. As screwed up as our democracy is, it's still a democracy. Capitalism will still hold sway, because people are greedy and clingy over money.

Taxes, on the other hand, are really quite important, and do not make us socialist. If the government did not tax the people, we would not have any social welfare programs, no public schools, terrible roads and highways, no public parks, no money for the military, etc etc. Complaining about taxes doesn't make them any less necessary, and we need a government that won't shy away from taxing the rich people who yell the loudest about the horrors of their millions being taxed. The richer a person is, the more that person is able to contribute to society in the form of taxes. They may have a higher percent of their earnings taxed, but that's because they can afford it.
