Shalees got up from the table and walked out of the tavern without looking back, fully expecting Ranz and Drew to follow her.

Ranz ran up to her side.. and couldn't help looking her over.. Wow. . . "Comin Drew?" He said..maybe a little rudely..

Drew pretended not to notice the rudeness in Ranz's voice. He shrugged, drowned the last drops of his glass, and followed them, leaving a tip on the table.

"We are headed north from here," Shalees said once they where out of the tavern and a bit away from prying eyes and ears, "toward the warmer lands."

She glanced about the town then, pausing for a moment, she was remiss to leave the only signs of civilization she'd seen for months, but she had more important things to do than worry about the next time she'd see a proper bed or inn.

"Do you two need to pick up anything while we are still in town?" she asked glancing back at them.

"I could use a little more newt powder and. . some frog slime.." Ranz gave a quick jog to the inn to get the stuff.

With Ranz gone for the moment Shalees turned to Drew. "I read your post by the door," she addressed him, "it is a rather impressive list of acomplishments, so it makes me wonder why you might want to come under my employ?"

"Alright," Shalees said turning north as they headed out of town where the farm land met the town. They would have a few weeks travle down the road threw farm land before they came upon the wiler grasslands that would eventually turn into the woodlands of the Elves.

There was a slight chill breez in the late evening air but the weather would begin warming up in the coming weeks as spring came on. Unfortionatly, with the warmer weather the rain would also come.

Alaina woke up in a pile of hay as the sun peaked through the cracks and quietly slipped out from under Roland's arm. She hummed a little while she dressed, putting on her skirt and blouse, then tying her hair into a bun and tying a handkerchief over it. She was a little tempted to put on a couple rings from her small stash of jewelry, but decided not to risk it, they hadn't made a catch in a while, and the last thing she wanted to worry about was losing one of their most valuable possessions.

Roland's eyes cracked open blearily as his wife got up and began to dress. He didn't feel like getting up so he closed his eyes and turned over, attempting to go back to sleep.

"Roland," Alaina called, "Time to get up." She walked over to her sleeping husband and gave him a shake by the shoulder.

Two arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her tightly to him like a child would hold a teddy bear. He gave a few loud, very convincing snores.

"Ack! Roland!" Alainna complained, trying unsuccessfully to wriggle her way out of his grasp as hay made its way into her clothes again. Finally she went limp in his arms, grumbling. "I guess you're not hungry then, you've obviously got better things to do."

His eyes popped open at her comment. "Hmm... Cuddle some more with my little wife, or eat breakfast? Can't I do both?" he whined, eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Actually, unless you want to eat air you're going to have to choose." She retorted slyly, smiling ever so slightly as she looked into his eyes. "We finished everything we had last night."

He frowned slightly, the playful light in his eyes dulling in seriousness. "Oh. Suppose we should go get something then, hm?" he muttered, giving her a swift kiss then standing and helping her up. "Think there are some chickens around here? Don't think the farmer will begrudge a couple of eggs as long as we're long gone before we cook them."

She didn't answer immediately. First she brushed the hay out of her clothes and hair as well as she could. "It's already daylight out. My guess is the farmer beat you too it, unless he somehow manages to be lazier then you are."

Roland sighed, shaking hay out of his clothes. "Onward with an empty stomach it is, then." He patted his pockets and looked through his pack for a moment, trying to find some loose change. "Nothing... What about you? I know you must have something stowed away, Sweetling." He gave her his most winning smile. "Now would be the time to reveal it. You don't want your poor husband to starve to death while you're rolling in riches, do you?"

"As if a dozen coins were rolling in riches." Alaina replied, letting out a sigh. She dug into the bottom of her pack and pulled out a single golden coin, she wasn't about to let him how much she actually had in there. "Here," She placed the coin in his hand.

"Let's go then before the farmer finds us." With that he went to the door and cracked it open, peeking out to see if the coast was clear.

The farmer was out working in the fields, and the Tramps had no trouble slipping past. Once in town Alaina kept her mouth shut and followed closely behind Roland.

Drew followed them silently. He'd been muddling through his own thoughts for a while, and thus had been unnaturaly quiet. He hefted his pack one last time, thinking back to another quest. Another time... Another country.

Another girl...

He shook his head, and ran up to Shalees. "Hey Shalees!" He called, "I have your answer." He slowed when he went near her, though he did not look her in the face, but looked ahead. "You may be looking in your past, but all I've ever wanted to do is let go of mine." With that, he walked off again. He would still follow, though at a discreet, and even more importantly, separated, distance.

Shalees just gave a nod to that... may sought to escape their pasts.

Ranz gave him a wierd look "Avoiding us mate?" he made sure he stuck to Shal's side, not letting either of him out of his sight." "What's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong with him," Shalees said softly, "he's doing his job... a body guard does not always follow close at hand... as long as he can see or hear me he can stay where he chooses."

Drew continued after them. He still muddled over his past. It didn't haunt him as much in the day as it did in the night, which is why he always carried a special sleeping potion to prevent dreams. He continued on, saddened and depressed, but full of hope for his newfound freinds.

((Ok this is going to be a little bit of a fast forward... I am going to take us well out of town and into the farm land beyond. This is about a 2 day fastforward, so feel free to put in anything your charaters might have done in that time before responding to the "presant" part of this post.))

The next two days passed much the same for Drew, Raz, and Shalees. They followed the main road out of town and civilization quickly disolved into wide open countryside and farm land. Here there where few people to be seen and only hint that people MUST be about somewhere was the odd barn, house, or shack to be seen. Most of the crops had been swen a month or more ago, and now the grain crps where just begining to push up threw the soil.

... ... ...

At sunrise Shalees stretched and yawned as she woak from her sleeping spot benieath the loan oak along this stretch of the road. ((The tree is to the right or the road.)) She pulled from her travle bad a few crackers and spread a bit of chees on them as she looked out across the horizon that day. The clouds that had rolled in last night threatening rain finally began to give way and a light drizle began to come down with the growing light of day. Today would be warm and rather humid from the rain as the coolness from the night gave way to the warmth of a spring day.

The Tramps had found a VERY interesting poster in the town and, after a bit of asking around without seeming TOO interested on Roland's part, they headed out in the direction they'd heard their quarry had gone in, getting rides from the occasional farmer in a cart... even if the farmer in the cart didn't know he had passengers.

So it happened that, two days later, the couple found themselves on the road in a light drizzle, eating the last of a pie that Roland had "appropriated" from a windowsill the day before. "You know, sweetie, I have a good feeling about today. I think we're going to catch up," Roland said cheerily to his wife as the two of them saw a large oak in the distance.

((Hehe. He performs minor thefts of foodstuffs all the time when he's 'down on his luck'. Food is the only thing he appropriates, well, that and things that people throw out sometimes if he can get some use out of it.))

"We'll need a plan." Alaina reminded her husband. The rain had loosened her hair a bit, and strands were beginning to unravel. She had to go just short of a jog to keep up with her tall husband.

[Editied for continuitiy... Shalees was sleeping under the oak and it it just about dawn. Ranz and Drew are somewhere in the vicinitie of that oak... there aren't really any other trees around. Just farmland.]

((Erm... was sort of thinking the oak was the one Marjie's character was under and still quite a ways away so our characters have a bit of time to talk before getting there. They could see the oak from far away because everything is cleared away and flat. A tree is easy to spot in the middle of farmland.))

Roland looked down on his little wife with an easy grin. He liked the wet look to her when her hair was loose and wavy. "Plan away, Lovey. I'd say we're going the same way, maybe offer ourselves as servants. She's a noblewoman, right? Sing her praises loudly enough and she just might take us along. We can figure out how to bag her later."

"We'll continue north along this road for a few more days, until we get to the town of Waterlue. There the river Gran crosses our path and the road bends off to the east. Past Waterlue we'll keep heading north though we'll loose the farm lands quickly to the open plains before we begin to near the elf woods."

(Remember, Drew IS only 17. Despite his gruff exterior and experiance at fighting and surviving, he still is technically not a full grown man yet. He hides it well by distancing himself from others and wearing layers of clothes. Your characters shouldn't know his real age however...)

"Vit C and calories?" Shalees gave him an odd look not sure at all what that meant or what thoes things where. Then she shrugged, she had aways found the ways of alchmests strange to say the least.

When Drew shrugged Shalees offered him an apple. "Shall we be off then?"

((In responce to that: We are RPing in a quazi -midevil setting; 17 is well into adulthood. 9-12 is the general marrying age for women and 10-15 for men. By 14 or 15 your DEFFINATELY an adult. Whatever culture Drew is from HE may not think of himself as an adult, but the others around him in this game will think of him as a full grown man. By the time you reach 25-35 (as a human) your concidered middle aged.))

((I am going to let us RP the next few days of travle without fastforwarding for the sake of GB and MW's charaters so that they can formulate whatever plans they wish or catch up or whatever they want/need to do.))

((Oops... But just because someone tells you your a man doesn't make you one. Oh, and that's right, Drew already has been, well, in love if not married. That takes place in Shattered Moon... Though the ages don't line up.))

Drew took the apple, and bit in. It was nice and sweet, and he was able to make an incoherent sound afterward that sounded like a muffled, "Thank You?" ((His face was looking the other way at the time.))
