FuzzyUglyBunnyTopic: Where is my muse? Muse: *sips cocktails in hawaii*Damn it, you'd think that he could at least have sent a postcard. It's been over 6 months! I'm having such a bad time with writer's block lately, it's really annoying me because I am DYING to write, but it just won't happen. I used to roleplay quite a bit so that always kept me going, but since I'm lacking a home computer I can't really get the time online and it takes me ages to think up replies, anyway. It's actually quite depressing as I feel like my writing standard is going down and I can't get it back up to where it used to be. I've actually resulted in rewriting my whole cast of character profiles. I'm not sure why, maybe a fresh start for when I can eventually get back into my routine? O_o *sigh* I need petting. | #1 Nov 07th 2006, 11:24am

Sneer*pets* I know how you feel. My muse moved to New Mexico and it just hasn't been the same. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else. |

Sneerwell if the quality of your work is dropping maybe you should drop with it. you know, go back to square one, were you where when you started writing. Lower if need be.Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty! To dive head first in with the swine! Roll around in the filth! Do not shun the dirt! EMBRRRRRACE IT! Lower your standars, get into the groove of being a ** writer. and hopefully, maybe, eventually, you'll crap out some fine pearl, polish it up all nice and pretty, and fertilise it. LIKE A CLAM! And eventually, it shall hatch! Into a beautiful butterfly! And then it'll get married and give you lots of pearl-insect grand-children. And slowly, SLOWLY, the quality of your work shall RISE UNTO THE HEAVENS! UNTIL YOU CAN LOOK DOWN UPON YOUR DARK GODZ! And SPITE on them! *spits* ok? | #3 Nov 07th 2006, 7:12pm . FuzzyUglyBunnyO_oPearls are nice. I don't think I have much choice in whether I drop my standards or not, the fact is, if you take a break from something and don't put it into practice, then it's going to take awhile to bring yourself back up. It doesn't help that I now have a time limit on how much I can write, becxause before I could just write it and then go back over it, change things, mix words up a little more. Now, it's kind of like my first draft has to be the final one, too. Kinda sucky. Still, I'm reading more, so that helps. ^_^ |

BeliefInSquirellsI believe the last time i saw my muse was in a Holiday show about Thailand. But hey, your right. Drop your standards and send your inner critic out to look for your muse. Maybe they'll elope and neither will be missed... That's what i'm hoping anyway because my inner critic took my last story idea with her. |

Sneerwhat is a muse exactly? i think everyone has there own little mental image of a muse. whats yours? |
|
Sneeris it just me or is like some kinda mental blocking WAVE just washing over the poeple, keeping the from writing? it jsut seems more and more people are writing less and less to me. Is it just me? |

Eternity's VoiceMuses dying en masse? Nah, we're just getting older. If you turn around, you'll notice a bunch of kids behind you. Wow, they're energetic, huh? Personally, I didn't so much lose my muse, as we were seperated by the mountain of school work that came between us in the 11th and 12th grade. Then I got to college and after the first week I blinked and went...oh my god, I'm actually...bored? And, voila, I'm writing again. The other thing I noticed is that my oft-vanishing muse wasn't skipping off to the Bahamas but to a different part of the same story (coincidentally set in the tropics...). By not forcing myself to follow the story in strict chronological order, I'm able to stay more on topic. Also, reminding my muse that I have an 8 page Art History research paper due in 2 days is a surefire way to get it scurrying back, ready to write...about an insane Oracle manipulating everyone's lives on a tropical island. Dammit, I need to start that paper! Why is my Research Paper Muse never around! Where is she! ... ::RP Muse sneaks out door behind author's back with plane tickets to Tokyo:: | #9 Dec 02nd 2006, 10:32am

Sneerone of the most annoying things EVEr is when your muse picks the worst time to suddenly retunr with more force and vigor then they have in several months. And you have nothing to write with!!! AAARGH! Or your in a position were doing so...not the best time. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!| #10 Dec 17th 2006, 5:52pm

Lord-of-FoolsI don't write everything that comes to my head. You need to nurture them a little. I have about four full length freaking novels backed up in there. It's sort of annoying, but I know if I wrote stuff down, the ideas would die and I'd be left with nothing. When I get Writer's Block it's not so much a lack of ideas as a lack of inspiration, where everything I write is absolute trollop and I know it. A good way to get inspiration is to medidate, walk quietly (no music or anything) in a park, listen to some songs you really love while sitting and doing nothing... cooking even.| #11 Dec 17th 2006, 8:22pm

Sneerwashing dishes!...what? that seems to be the case with most people. its not the lack of ideas its the lack of inspiratoin.| #12 Jan 03rd 2007, 9:41pm

Sneeryou can find insperatoin just about anywere. but i think the best place to go to be inspired to actual sit down and write like its not a chore is around other people who are inspired and enjoy doing whatever it is they do.the best writer is the one having the most fun. | #13 Jan 10th 2007, 2:33pm

Sneeri may be confusing insperatoin with motivation...oh well either way it works.| #14 Jan 10th 2007, 2:39pm

FreakierThanThouMy muse and my sense of humor kidnapped my inner child and escaped high school. Fortunately, my friend recovered my sense of humor, which I promptly interrogated. I allowed my sense of loyalty to go on a vacation for a while, so my sense of humor was free to betray my muse and I recovered it and my inner child. My inner child is now in therapy and my muse is behind bars, spewing madly.Which gives me an idea... must... not... write... GAHH! Someone say you'll write a story about a muse running away and that sort of stuff. Ple-ease? | #15 Mar 13th 2007, 8:19pm

Sneerit is....hey you know whats a good way to get your muse to come back? classic literature or at least something very popular that you like rather well! not shakespear...don't try that... but yeah reading good books will get you in the mood to write again unless your one of those people who fall alseep while reading. But its like when you read a book and start wrting a few hours later that your writing style is suddenly similar to that which you just read? yeah, its kind alike that. (also why i wouldn't recomend things like Lord of the Rings or Shakespear or so on the like.) We are influenced by other writers. And that doens't mean that our idea or style is any less good or original. Inspiration is inspiration no matter where it coems from. Wether it be from your own life, nature, or another author. Just don't make the mistake of trying to STEAL an idea. Big difference. | #18 May 26th 2007, 12:37pm
