![]() Two days later Natkim and a small party of around twelve well armed and able raiders set out for the mannor house . They were soon on the nobleman's lands but Natkim wanted to wait until the cover of darkness to commandeer the provisions stored in the two large barns which lay juts outside the walls of the manor house. 6/17/2010 #2 |
![]() Danyl was sharpening his sword with some flint. He wore his mail tunic and iron helmet, though heavy and stiffling he knew he may well need it should the party stray upon a loyalist patrol. He was selected for the raid and did not command his usual group of men but he did not care. He was honoured to serve in the raiding party and secure much needed provisions for their fledgling army. 6/17/2010 #3 |
![]() Night descended and NAtkim gave the signal to his men to begin the assult. Quietly they crept towards the barns. 6/18/2010 #4 |
![]() Danyl moved lightly on his feet through the tall grass.Watching for any sign of movement. It was a sight to see; the men moving as one in disciplined silence. Their rebel army may well take back power from their misguided king, Danyl thought. 6/25/2010 #5 |
![]() The two dogs guarding the barn were quickly killed by two swift flying arrows. They looked pathetic, the once fierce beasts now no more than a bundle of flesh, bones and fur. He entered the barn. A few men were already unloading sacks of grain from the carts housed in the barn while others were slashing the extra sacks that they would not be able to take with them – if the rebels couldn't have it, no one could. Most of his men were inside when the heavy barn door slammed shut. Light flared as lamps were lit, illuminating the cavernous space – but none of Natkim's men had brought lamps or torches. They were trapped – they had been betrayed. 6/30/2010 #6 |
![]() Danyl cursed. Suspecting they would try and burn the barn. He tried ramming the wooden doors with his shoulder but they were held shut. "Natkim!" he called. "What are your orders?" 7/04/2010 #7 |
