Katashi was taken aback for a moment...So there was somebody... He was immediately struck by sympathy for how hard hearing of it would be for Tahira-kun.

He bowed.

"Greetings, I am Katashi-San. And you are..?"

Lynn stared at him, clearly surprised that the man was speaking in English. "Lynn Jones, I see that you speak my langauge."

A smile crossed her face and she looked over at Alvin again before walking towards his side. "What are you doing here?" he asked.

"You took too long replying to my letter so I decided to pay a surprise visit. Happy to see me?"

Alvin shook his head and Lynn made a face. "I feel hurt Alvin..."

"You don't belong here," he replied, "This isn't your country... in fact, our countries are fighting against each other."

"Greetings, Lin-San." He bowed once more, "You know Render-kun?"

Lynn nodded. "We met a few months ago, it was luck actually and since then we have become friends."

She turned back to Alvin and rested a hand on his shoulder. "You should know Alvin, that it is my business to be here when... I can about you, more then you can ever imagine."

Alvin just stared at her as he realized what she was saying.

No, this is going wrong.. Katashi inwardly cringed as he watched, feeling unable to really do anything at the moment.

"Alvin... I love you," Lynn whispered, "Please, think about loving me back."

Still staring at her, Alvin was lost for words. He hadn't been expecting such a bold statement from the shy, British woman.

"I should probably give you two some time alone if you like, Render-kun...",He glanced at his feet awkwardly.

"Y..yes," Alvin managed to say, "That would be nice."

He looked at the doctor briefly before looking back at Lynn, trying to think of what to tell her.

He bowed for the third time before heading out of the door, his mind a mess as he went to find Tahira-Kun. He finally found her in the lounge, and sat down next to her on the couch, sighing.

"I've got some bad news, I'm afraid..."

Tahira stared at him and felt her heart sink. "Bad... news??"

He gently put his hand on her shoulder. "Tahira-kun...There's somebody else...Her name is Lynn-San."

"Someone else??" Tahira felt the tears start to well up in her eyes and she put her head in her hands. She didn't even know why she bothered being so upset, surely someone as good and kind as Alvin would be taken but it still didn't make it any easier.

Katashi was quiet, wishing that there was something else that he could do. "Tahira-Kun, I'm...sorry.."

She looked up briefly, the tears still running down her face. "Did you learn anything else about him?? Something I can remember him by?"

"Yes, he has a younger sister...Jay, I believe..Both parents are dead.."

"I feel sorry for him," she said, "But I just wanted to get to know him... now I'll never have that chance."

"And you give up? You can still try, Tahira-Kun. Never stop trying, never." He met her eyes, "Render-Kun isn't on same side as her...He even said that. You are."

Tahira looked up. "What do you mean? Not on the same side?"

"She is Brittish." He put his hands behind his head, "And he, as you know--is not."

"He's German!" Tahira exclaimed, "What on Earth is he doing with a British girl? That's impossible!! We're in a war, don't they have respect each to realize that!!"

He sighed. "It surprised me, too. I cannot imagine what you are feeling...If there is anything that I can do, do not hesitate from asking me..On my honor, I swear that I will do what I can."

((Note:On my honor means a lot more in Japan than in the US and Britain, by the way. Ranom trivia. :3))

"Just be here so that I can talk to you," Tahira said, "It helps me take my mind off things at times, to have a good friend."

"I guess that's what I'm here for." He smiled, glancing at his watch. He had a good two hours before his next shift, plenty of time to try and talk her through this...

Tahira looked at him. "If you were me what would you do?"

"I woudl try, I guess." He glanced at her, "What else is there to do?"

"Nothing..." she sighed, "The British girl can't stay forever. Her place isn't with us..."

"You should take this as your chance. Beyond that, it's out of your control, Tahira-kun."

"I wish it was in my control." Tahira looked down at her hands. "I... should have spoken to him sooner."

"There was nothing you could have done. One must not overestimate themself."
