She has a French noseline and light eyebrows, with almond shaped eyes and dark eyelashes. The irises of her eyes are almost amber-brown in color, light brown that is accentuated by a yellowish gold overtone. Her hair, wavy in texture, is dark brown and about the shade of ebony wood. At the moment, it falls to about chest level. She has a small waist and a good figure that is further accentuated by the tightness of her corset and stays, although they are quite uncomfortable, and she is almost always carrying a fan so that she can cool herself off. She has dimples in her cheeks that appear whenever she smiles. Sophrona is a good dancer and takes graceful, swaying steps, often humming as she goes about her work.

Personality: Musically inclined and quite polite, Sophrona often hums and sings. It is as if her life’s rhythm is music, and she holds the arts in general in very high esteem. She loves the sound of violin and has always wanted violin to play at her wedding, because she views it as beautiful. She, however, does not play any musical instruments, although she would like to learn to play the piano someday, when she is not as occupied as she is now. She does however have a fair singing voice from much practice singing when she works. Sophrona is, like most Southern women of her time, very polite, and goes to very high measures to make sure that her guests feel at home when they are staying with her. She often offers soldiers a place to stay, and feels that no sacrifice is too great for the glorious cause of the Confederacy. A strong supporter of state’s rights and the Confederacy herself, she does whatever she can to help the soldiers, notably baking pies and food to give to them and washing their clothes for them. She is very supportive of the men on the front and views any that have served as heroes, and is not hesitant in saying that. However, she often seems distracted, as if something is occupying her mind besides what she is talking about in the present, and hangs onto what was for dear life, because her greatest fear is subconsciously coming into acceptance of the chaos that is whirling around her. Although she tries to keep her head up, sometimes it is very difficult for her to do and she feels as if she cannot hold on any longer. However, there is always something that keeps her going on, although she does not know what that is. She often ponders on this, but has never really gotten an answer. Sophrona acts like a timid, confused creature that does not understand things around men because she knows that that is what is considered the social standard and abides without complaint to this. She silently bears her crosses and hates making other people aware of them, because she likes to handle her problems in solitude and solitude alone.

Background: Sophrona is the daughter of a wealthy planter and lives on a plantation that mainly grew cotton before the beginning of the war. However, due to the tightening Union navy blockades, much of what they have they have not been able to sell and therefore they have slowly but steadily been losing money, something that is the talk of the men at the table of the plantation quite often.

Apperance: Before the war he was considered handsome with black hair and hazel eyes. But at Chancelivesville he was shot on the side of the face and while he did survive the entire left side of his face is a mass of scars, sunken in slightly up to his eye which he has also lost leaving just a scar across the closed and empty eyelid.

Personality: Dave is self confident and quick to act, not thinking that he can do any wrong. He is determined to win and not afraid to put his own life on the line. However, at times, he disobeys orders if he doesn't agree with what a higher ranking officer orders and will order his men to do it his way. When around people he doesn't know well, Dave tends to act very polite, because he likes to put on a good image.

Background: He started going to Point but was expelled before finishing his first year. At the beginning of the war he started off as a sargenat but after he was shot, and spent two months recovering, they gave him the rank of Colonel and put him into Pickett's division, Corse's Brigade after Gettysburg, with the replacement troops.

She is fairly pretty, with full lips and a gentle smile that she rarely shows with sincerity. There is a certain broken, sorrowful look that reflects in her eyes, although most don't notice it. She has a rich singing voice and soft hands, and has smooth, mocha-brown skin.

Personality: Mouse is musical and quiet, and is used to having no input so doesn't usually share her opinions with others. She has turned her sorrows and misery towards the piano in the family room, the most treasured thing she has, although it is not really hers. She often hums but doesn't ever sing, for that, too, takes her courage.

Background: Mouse was born on the plantation and has always been a slave. However, she deeply aspires to freedom and wants more than anything in the world to be her own, free woman. She hopes that someday abolitionists will come, but she has lost most of her hope. Her mother and father were both sold when she was seven.

For seven years she has been struggling with the illness.

Personality: Usually pretty friendly, although will shut up like a calm whenever someone mentions that she appears to be in pain, or that she doesn't look healthy. She always denys that there is anything wrong with her, expect when she is completely alone with her twin sister, who she is closet to then anyone in the world.

Background: Grew up with her parents and twin sister. From the start she'd do everything she possibly could with Annie, helping her through the hardships of her sisters condition while not worrying about her own. She never realized Annie was the exact opposite way.

Personality: Quieter then Susan is, and more thoughtful. She keeps a diary, something Sue never understood very well but will jump to her sister help whenever it is needed. Her one treasure in life is the friendship with her twin, and she believes that if Sue dies, then a part of her will die with her. As a result, she is always trying to go out of her way for Sue, because she knows her sister could very easily die from it.

Background: Grew up exactly like Sue did with her parents in their quiet house in Rhode Island.

Personality: Vince is hot tempered with a burning hatred for the North and government in general. For most of his life he was a womanizing drunk who mooched of others and his parents. He is a great shot and is also good with knives and swords... and whatever objects he can use as a weapon.

Background: Vince McClain was raised on his parent's plantation in Virginia. The plantation had slaves, but Vince and his family were quite hospitable to the slaves. Vince spent most of his teenage life getting in fights and squandering his parents money for alcohol and gambling. At age eighteen he lied and told his parents that he was attending the University of Virginia. He moved to Charlottesville and had them send him money every month to pay for college and other expenses. When his parents came to visit a few years later they found out he had been living with a prominent family in the area mooching off of them and claiming to be an orphan boy. He was brought back to his parent's plantation (in Alexandria) and was forced into servitude for a couple years. It was during this time that he began to settle down and even met a nice girl he planned to marry. When the war broke out Vince quickly joined the Confederacy with his older brother had. Vince fought for a few months under General Beauregard, but was allowed to leave for a short time after he witnessed the brutal death of his brother in battle. When he returned home he found the plantation was burned down and his whole family murdered. Vince went crazy after that day and is now hiding out in the woods hunting for Union soldiers.

Background: Has lived in Virginia her entire life. Her father was killed in the war, and her mother died from grief a few months later leaving Rose to take care of herself when she was 17.

Recently she has fallen in love with a young private, Michael Judge. She decided to follow him into the army and so signed up as part of the same regiment that he is with under the name Jackson Dillon.
