![]() Chamberlain's home state in Maine and where Bowdoin College is located. 12/11/2009 #1 |
![]() He saw her through the window of the train as it pulled into the station. Standing up, he moved towards the door and jumped down as soon as the train had slowed enough. But he stumbled, having forgotten his own weakness that the disease had brought and the pain in his foot from his own small wound. Raising his head, he looked at her. 12/11/2009 #2 |
![]() Fanny stared back at him, seeing him for the first time in so long. She moved towards him, grateful tears filling her eyes. He was alright. 12/11/2009 #3 |
![]() And Chamberlain moved towards her as well, was then upon her. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close. There were no words for the feelings that he felt about seeing her again, and he realized how she must feel to see him. 12/11/2009 #4 |
![]() Fanny buried her face in her husband's shoulder, her relieved tears dampening his coat. She looked up at him, saw the weariness in his face, the lines. He had changed, as she knew he would. "How are you feeling?" she asked quietly. 12/11/2009 #5 |
![]() "Not well." He answered her truthfully. The sickness had far from left him, that was why they'd granted him the two weeks leave to go home, to rest before returning to the army. Staring into her eyes, he paused for a moment before continuing. "I feel like... bed..." 12/11/2009 #6 |
![]() She smiled slightly, nodded. "The carriage is waiting out front." She led him that way. 12/11/2009 #7 |
![]() As they walked, Chamberlain wrapped an arm around her shoulder, moving towards the carriage. He could see familar faces in the crowd and nodded towards them before climbing into the carriage, the weakness weighing him down as he sat down. 12/11/2009 #8 |
![]() "Word has spread... that you were returning," Fanny said quietly as the carriage began to move. "Many of your students have been calling on me every day." 12/11/2009 #9 |
![]() Chamberlain looked out at the crowd of people, could see some of the familiar faces as the carriage moved, heading towards their house. 12/11/2009 #10 |
![]() They reached home and Fanny helped Lawrence out of the carriage. 12/11/2009 #11 |
![]() He smiled faintly at her as he stepped down, looking up at the house again. It had been a while since he'd been there. 12/11/2009 #12 |
![]() "The children are anxious to see you," Fanny said quietly, smiling slightly. "They may well try to knock you over when they see you." 12/19/2009 #13 |
![]() It had been a while since he'd seen the children, and Chamberlain nodded as he reached the door with her. ((Who's writing the children??)) 12/20/2009 #14 |
![]() ((I was thinking maybe we could write one each. :D )) Fanny opened the door and was greeted with a chorus of happy shouting from Daisy and Wyllys. 12/20/2009 #15 |
