Topic: Who is gonna be the next president?
I want to hear it. well, i'd also like to know who you think the candidates are gonna be. I think the candidates in my opinion could wind up being Gulianni(r) vs. Clinton(d)

(hope u guys r ok with this not sure if it fits in with the other topics)

Dude. Its a political forum. I'm pretty sure the next president has to do with politics, so dont worry about posting this topic. Its cool.

I would like to see this Obama guy go far. I'm not so sure of Clinton. She seems to say the wrong stuff. Obama seems intelligent and all. Its all up in the air at this point. Gulianni is a likely one for the R side. I really think its too early to tell.

I have no idea about who the prospective candidates are apart from Obama and Hilary Clinton, though I've heard speculation about Condoleeza Rice. No idea who I'd prefer though. Obviously I'd rather a democrat, because from their record they're less inclined to go beating up other countries and minority groups for milk money, and because the democrats seem to want to raise the minimum wage.

Well, this topic is quite old, but I'll add what I know from the present. Hilary is running, Obama is running, Edwards is running, Richardson (Governor of New Mexico) is running, and the rest of the Democratuic party seems to be running along with them. From the Republicans, we have John McCain, Gulliani, and...hmm...I don't know anymore. Fact: the Republican Party has absolutely no chance of winning the presidency. The country is too sick of them right now. It's just like Clinton in 1992. Hilary isn't going to win either. I'd like to see Obama in office...he's got the will to lead, but I'm not sure if he has the xperience required.

OPINION. Do you really think that you can speak for the entire nation right now?

And I seriously doubt Obama is going to win. You said it- he's inexperienced.

No, she can't, but political analysts do that sort of thing all the time, based on what they have seen of other elections, other people, society around the time of the elections etc. Of course it is opinion, but it's not a completely uneducated opinion.

but still, there is at least a third of america that is republican, and I doubt they are sick of themselves.

And Designer is saying that 1/3 is not enough to win a presidnecy...unless you cheat.........................................................................

(ahem)

But what is this board if not opinionated? Don't scorn people for giving an opinion.

well, I try not to, but that kind of looked like it was being presented as fact. THat reminds me... do you think we should make it so that you have to have an ID on hand to vote?

hmm. I would think it's a good idea. I don't know all the details, but I don't see why not. Nonetheless, many illegal immigrants have fake IDs anyhow. I think it would help, but the rules may need to be more strict so they aren't as easily broken...

Ah, but the point of a good persuasive piece is to position your opinion as fact ;)

Needing an ID to vote? Not sure what my ideas on that are. After all, where I come from, we have a compulsory vote which I think works rather well. But we also don't have as much of a problem with illegal immigrants (and probably never will, due to being so freaking far from everywhere), so both are issues i don't know much about.

And this would help with the jerks that try and vote twice.

As long as it's not Clinton, I'm happy.

If Clinton gets elected, I'll shoot myself...

Wow...I'm just looking back and realizing that, at one point, I was liking the idea of Barack Obama for the presidency... Scary stuff... Hillary can't win, it seems. She won all the big states, but Obama lookis like the candidate. It's too bad. I hope he doesn't fail miserably. I support Hillary.

How exactly does Obama not fail miserably? He's running against McCain, who has, currently, a relatively spotless record. People are coming out of teh woodworks, his wife said some pretty dumb crap, and Obama sorta screwed himself over with the captured quote in San Fran.

McCain is making too many mistakes about the economy, and the War. He supports the war, and people are sick of it. He's not going to help out middle class families with the economy. He's too conservative; people want a change. I don't like Barack Obama, but I like him better than McCain.

1. That's what advisers are for

2. Don't start speaking for the american people. At best, you could represent the views of your san-fran neighbors. And people want a change? here's a thought- There's nothing new about either three of the candidates! The only difference between the right and left is that the left preaches change but doesn't do it, and the right simply doesn't do it! What do you mean, help out the middle class? The middle class is the middle class! It's not the lower class, it's not the upper class! It's not going to leech off of the upper class, it's not going to be ** with taxes. It's doing absolutely fine!

Hahaha, you are right, I suppose; I should only speak for myself. (Although, I don't much talk to the San-Frans....I'm a New Yorker) I would say that both sides are equally capable of change, though McCain has no desire for change. The middle class is not doing absolutely fine! Rising energy costs, rising costs of living, declining economy! All fot hese things are causing middle class Americans to have less money in their pocket. I haven't even mentioned how poorly the lower classes are doing. And yes, they will be ** with taxes! How else will they pay for the war, in McCain's case, or all the other social programs, in the Democrat case? The upper class has avoided the tax **age for the past 8 years under Bush, and would again under McCain. But, I suppose you are correct in saying that none of the candidates are ideal, though I have faith that all of them are capable leaders.

Hmm... who was the san-fran person here then?? i seem to have forgotten.

And this doesn't sound like change? His announcement for a reform in health care? I think it's more the chance he wants is following the ideology that you don't want.

Who pays the damn taxes? The upper class! The top 1% pay over 40% of the taxes in the united states already! Are you saying that they should be punished for being successful?

PS the censors disappear when you're writing a reply =P
