ONETRACKMlNDI'm gonna be blunt.--bluntness starts here-- Everybody that I have talked to on this website doesn't know what jessica's law is. WATCH THE FREAKING NEWS!!! --bluntness ends here-- Google it. |

truthordealThank you for the bluntness. Yes to Jessica's Law. In my not so humble opinion, sex offenders don't deserve rights after they are let out. They are freaking perverts that don't deserve to be treated like humans! If we were back in the day, or in Mexico, we would have taken them out back and beaten them with a hose, so that all the injuries would be internal. But NOOOOOO! Damn Liberals got to reform this and that to where prison isn't much of a punishment anymore. If anyone wants me, I'll be in my Angry Dome. |

Lord-of-FoolsOnetrackmind, I had not ever heard of Jessica's Law before it was mentioned here. This is because I come from Australia, where no such precedent has been created. Forgive me for my apparent 'ignorance' of America's laws. Have you heard of the Mabo Case? Probably not. Google it.| #6 Mar 02nd 2007, 5:34pm . Edited Mar 02nd 2007, 5:35pm

ONETRACKMlNDI didn't direct my bluntness at you. I can understand that you don't know about jessica's law, but I do know that somebody other than me that gives a damn about politics and is from the united states on this WEBSITE ought to know. The fact that I worded my statement in such a way would probably get such a response on the other forum, too. | #7 Mar 02nd 2007, 6:26pm . Lord-of-FoolsWell, that's good to know at least :)I think I stated my position in the other place where this was mentioned. That, and the fictionpress mailbot is yet again failing to send me updates of the various forums. |

Blackbird552Just realize, ONETRACKMIND, that not everyone watches the news everyday. Some people are only slightly interested in this forum and when they ask you something, you can enlighten them rather than scoff at them. Just be nicer, I don't want to see flaming at all (especially over someone not knowing one law out of twenty of the most debatable).| #9 Mar 03rd 2007, 10:24am

DisturblyI'm against it, actually. Don't get me wrong; I'm not pro-child molester. The thing is, that isn't the definition of "sex offender". There are a lot of crimes that can earn someone the designation of sex offender; it can go to a teen or teens involved in a consensual relationship where either or both are minors, just to name one example. Hell, someone can get tagged as an "offender" if they're caught urinating in public, even if it happens in an alley where there are like, no children present, and I --er, they-- had nine beers and their bladder was going to burst. Jessica's law will apply to these people just as it does to the "Chesters" out there, and what will be the result? A broad selection of people who aren't sexual predators at all will be required to wear GPS monitors and fill out sex offender registration forms twice a year. The cost of which must be absorbed by the state, with the alternative being the loss of federal funding. This will be a massive expenditure of time and money, and for what? The illusion of safety. On the other hand, if judges brought the hammer down on the people who are actually dangerous, it would actually be effective, without any of the collateral problems associated with Jessica's Law. I've said it before; mandatory minimum sentences are never the best solution, and rarely a good one. |

DisturblyIncidentally, what in the 14 concurrent hells do I have to do to space a post into distinct paragraphs? No matter how many times I hit the enter key, it shows on in one giant lump. Help? |
