LeilaXTopic: Teenage Life Two new topics in one day, whoa, I'm on a roll...So, anyway, what does characterise teenage life today? Do you think it's changed a lot over the last couple years? Do you think there is an accurate potrayal of teenagers on T.V or books? If so, where? | #1 Mar 10th 2007, 11:12am

Serom KimI think the best place to look for an accurate portrayal of teenagers is to look at teenagers nowadays. At school. Look at all the groups, because there are teenagers who think like no one else. For example, my friends and I think like no one else on this campus, I know that for sure. We're stuck in our own little anime-videogames-whatever else we like world that has nobody who cares about having girlfriends/boyfriends and we couldn't care less about male-female differences and stuff. And there are teenagers who are similar to the stereotypical teenager. There are also advanced placement kids (like me) who are smart, but otherwise normal and those who are smart and play sports. You just need to think about how people act. |

MeursaultHmm. Typical television portrayals of teenagers are exagerations.| #3 Mar 16th 2007, 10:16pm

addy laneTypical commercials and TV do exaggerate a lot about teen life. But truly, teen life is pretty basic: lots of drama, catty cliques, and of course, boys! I think teens have changed a lot, for example "hook-ups" are kind of a casual thing. |

Serom KimI don't know if I'd describe teen life as pretty basic, because if you looked at me for an example, you would find someone who spends most of the time sitting at the computer writing stories and on fictionpress. |

GogohI might be the only teenager in the world who doesn't feel like a teenager. And I'm so darn sure about it!Sometimes I just can't help but think that teenagers are very 'stupid'! They never look into the basic part of their lives. They just yell at others saying "I just wanna live! I don't care about other things! I wanna live! Do drugs! Go to orgies 'cause that's what teenagers do! And I just wanna have fun!" Life isn't about having fun all the time, though it's completely upto their choices how they want to breath for the rest of their lives. |

concerto49Well we sure have technological changes - I mean it's changed everyone - e.g. computer/Internet/car/etc...It's also the change in society more than teenagers - like we more openly discuss some things than previously. It's more that the world is changing. Teenagers are still 'yo man, sup!' |

that does nothing but fallThis is about school, teenagers at school usually label the groups. The band geeks, the nerds, the 'popular people'. In actuallity, though, they do that because it's easier. People separate into groups. Groups of friends, not labels. The goths aren't friends, the emos, the nerd, they're friends with the drama people, they are the drama people. Schools have lots of groups, and popular people may think they're popular because everyone knows their name, but in actuality (I love that word!) They're normal, people might just know them because they went to elementary together, they used to be friends, they're in a class, not because they're popular. Not because they are the cool people.| #8 Nov 02nd 2007, 11:39pm

Red Rainbow BriteIf you really wanted to look at it from a writing prespective, I guess the one continuity between all teenagers is that they're trying to figure out who they are in a big world...there's a lot more to them than the eye can see. |
