Claudia CobainTopic: Slash better than straight fiction?
I'm not against slash, but yeah, it's getting more popular. I read it if it's good, I mean, it's not all bad. But isn't slash prefered to straight fiction, now? You just need to post a slash fiction these days and you'll get plenty of reviews. I'm just saying, that even poorly written slash gets attention, while plenty of straight good written fiction get none. |

Knightmare EliteI agree with you 100%. But this argument can be further broken down into F/F vs M/M vs M/F where ultimately NO MATTER the quality, two boys together is always 'cute and or hot' and will dwarf your story 8 out of 10 times just because. It sucks and may not, hell it isn't fair but that's apparently life at Fictionpress. I'm not trying to bash the readers or writers of those stories, just stating facts. |

Claudia CobainI agree with you. Also the plots are rather weak, if there is a plot besides all of the so-called hotness. But there are several really good ones, but I read them only because of the plot, not of the 'omg, two guys are like sooo hot together'. But it's just my point of view. At this rate I have a feeling, that straight stories will be once in a year. |

crazeedaizee411I have nothing against slash (I can't read it tho because it grosses me out. I'm sort of a homophobe.) but as long as it isn't too cheesy, I don't beleive it would be bad. Straight fiction is the same way. If it's too cheesy, I can't read it. Overly mooshiness is REALLY bad. |

SirianoI've read and written several horrible slashes, but its technically my favorite type of pairing if its done right. I mean, you can just walk into a book store and the first romance novel you grab will be het. I like it when things are different. :) Also, het gets a little uncomfortable with me. If I read about a boy and girl having sex, I relate to the girl and it feels really weird. _ | #5 Jul 09th, 11:41pm . Edited Jul 09th, 11:42pm | |

Miss. ParadoxI personally enjoy either one. So long as its well written, a story is a story is a story. I'm not going to just choose one or the other. However, when you come down to it, fictionpress is full of teenage girls, myself included. That said, a vast majority are naturally going to seek out 'hawt guy on guy action' or, whatever. So yes, sadly, a lot of badly written slash stories will dominate over the well written het but ah: that's life for you. |
