So i get really annoyed when people yell "OMG why are you off topic?" I think it's really stupid because changing topics is like switching chatrooms when the people you want to communicate with are in the current room!

So here is the place we can escape to and talk about anything we damn well please! :)

Introduce yourself and lets get this party started!

I'm Crys,

I like slash, romance, fantasy, adventure, humor, noncon, etc. You name it, I like it. (tho sometimes scifi goes over my head.)

I'm a free spirit who loves to do my own thing!

I enjoy meeting new people and accepting new writing challenges. I plan to get published (come hell or high water) and have confidence that it will happen once I graduate and have the time to perfect my work. I love helping critique/beta other people's story and always offer well-rounded critiques.

The abnormal is where I thrive. Pitch me a story about a boy who falls in love with a half-dragon other boy and I will swoon.

That's me in a nutshell. Now let's hear about you. :)

ExoticErotica

I like to be called Xotica, but go by "Hey you!" as well.

I write fantasy slash when Crystallyn doesn't have the balls. I like boys who fall in love with other boys that're no good for them. I love boys who have wings and tails.

I write whenever I can and talk on forums with the time in between.

Some of my stuff could be considered "fanfiction" since I use Crystalynn's characters. but technically its not cuz she's not yet published. Nor is it plagiarism cuz i only write what I'm asked to.

I often wish i could fast forward time and read the new chapters of the stories i love faster!

Cujo venom and Icera myst are amazing.

...Um.... Hi all.. *waves*

My name's Morrigan(real name Gabrielle) though I sometimes go by Gabriel 'cause of...um.. identity issues. I'm seventeen years old so I've got the normal problems everyone else deals with too along with certain(undiagnosed) mental problems.

I'm what I like to call a super-lurker on here. I get all the emails to new posts on here but I can never bring myself to post something of my own. I think I've been lurking for somewhere around ?11? or so months.

I am, obviously, obsessed with slash, yaoi, whatever you want to call it. I've been a complete f*g hag since I was five or so and I wrote my first fiction when I was nine. Of course, being nine, it totally sucked.

My favourite slash pairings, like most people, are from Harry Potter. Draco/Harry, Draco/Ron, Harry/Ron(though not so much), Snape/Draco, Snape/Harry, Draco/Colin, and Harry/Colin are pretty much the only ones I ever bother with. I like South Park slash too: Creek, Style, and Dip are my mains for that.

It is impossible for me to write from a female point of view or even have female main characters so I tend to stay in all-boy boarding schools(which lead to all kinds of fun) and certain fantasy worlds where there are no women or they have their own society and are not a main part of the story.

Although I admit, at least to myself, that I am bi(which is the most I can identify as considering my gender issues) I can not stand to read or write any kind of sex scene or kissing involving a girl or two girls(but this probably has to do with something I never told others about from when I was young). I'm perfectly fine with guys kissing(duh) and it makes me squeal. There are many times I've hurt myself on my laptop when *something* happened in an anime or manga and I slam it closed and flail about giggling.

I... think that's most everything of importance about me sooo.... I think I'm going to leave it at that. *nods* Yeah...

*Part Two!*

I guess I just type in "slash" "yaoi" and some other basic description word into the search and if it's got a cool summary I look into it. None of those "see summary inside" or "sorry my summary's suck! The story's better I swear!" type of stories.

I'll read horror, mystery, humour, romance(though everything I read has at least some romance in it), science fiction, and historical. Pretty much if it's good I'll read it.

And in book stores and libraries and stuff(now I know this is gonna sound weird) I walk down the isles looking at the spines and sometimes I just feel a "pull" towards certain ones. I'll normally take it out read the jacket or the first few pages, put it back and keep going. Then once I've gone through all of them I end up being pulled back to where ever that one was and getting hooked..............

OH MY GOD THERE WAS A PRAYING MANTIS ON ME!!!! EWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....

Umm.... sorry about that. I have a fear of bugs fyi and it was on my CHEST.

I've totally forgotten what I was talking about so I'm going to stop now.

Maybe go bathe.... *shudders*

(^I kept that because I'm pretty sure it describes my personality very well)

Omg where do you live? Theres bugs and rats?

D: I need to adopt you!

XD

Where I grew up there were all these tiny little red roaches. They were absolutely disgusting. I think thats why I have a fear of bugs!

Pfft. I just realized just how random this topic is! Excellent! Bwahaha!

Oh here's a good question! What's your favorite rating for a story on fictionpress? Be it slash or whatever, do you want K, K+, T or M?

1/08/2011 #9
xXWhat-is-your-damageXx

My house is right behind a row of stores and such and there's an alleyway between us and whenever the pest control people come to get rid of them in the alley they all come into my neighbourhood. It's disgusting.

Rating M. That is all. Sometimes I like fluff but most times no.

1/08/2011 #10
Crystalynn

lmao! Really?!

I keep running into people that're like "omg crys your stuff is too hardcore" XD and im like "its YAOI! what'd you expect?!"

Me personally, I like stuff that treads the line of T and M. The stuff I write usually does tred the line, and so does Exotica's, but ever since i moved off of Fanfiction.net i've been TRYING to keep it rated T. Basically the only dif is you cant use words like "thrusting"

If you use flowery, romantic words though, no one complains if things get hot n heavy.

1/08/2011 #11
xXWhat-is-your-damageXx

You can't say thrusting?! That's like one of the most basic words to describe what's going on! You could start going into explicit detail with added sound effects and see what happens!

1/08/2011 #12
Writing-Is-Fun

You know when describing things I've been told it's bad to use a lot of heavily descriptive language. What I guess I mean is don't use words that try to describe something, but mask it in such a way you can't even figure out what you were describing in the first place. Even though you were only writing it the way you did because you wanted to develop something about a character, or you wanted to meld people into the plot or something like that.

1/08/2011 #13
Crystalynn

lmao! Hahaha! THRUSTING!!!

XD

1/08/2011 #14
Crystalynn

I'm so sorry. I couldn't even type cuz I was laughing so hard! XD

But seriously, no, I don't think you're supposed to use words like "thrusting" or "panting" in a rated T story. Thats M only. Correct me if im wrong (which i very well could be. )

It's a bit of a fine line. And i really dont wanna get in trouble for rating it T when it should be M.

I want it T so it shows up on the searches and "just in" without being specified. That way i get more readers. :)

why? because reviews are my lifeblood.XD

Anyway, i dont use thrusting but there are ways around that. I think i used "grinding" once XD

Hello everyone - I'm Jack, 50 y/o (almost) male yaoi fan-boy who's only a little bit on the "gay" side. It's the pretty-boys, y'know, bishounen. If a person is pretty, I could care less whether they're a boy or a girl. I'm a bit of an otaku of late, but it may be wearing off - most of the anime I've bought recently seemed pretty tiresome to me (ask if you wanna know - I actually have no otaku friends or even acquaintances, certainly not where I live).

Fic-wise, I started off writing fan-fiction (Kigo - Kim Possible x Shego) femmslash. I also dabbled in Ron X Drakken... perhaps that was a precursor of things to come... The odd thing is that I've never even seen more than an ep or so of the actual Disney cartoon, and what I HAVE seen, I didn't really care for. I just got caught up in the characters. Actually, the first thing I got caught up in was Kim X Shego porn... and while surfing for that one day, I came across some drawings that were more "romantic" than "porny" - and I was hooked. The idea of gay (or lesbian) "romance" had never occurred to me (typical guy, I know), but when it did... well, yeah. I was hooked.

Then I got off of fan-fics and started original fics (it was actually scary at the time! Looking back, the "scary" reasons were stoopid). And all my original fics have been slash.

Hey, if you've got a good story, might as well make it slash, and it'll be even better! :)

Ohhhhh, YAY. I hate when an inactive group gets their panties in a twist when HELLO people are actually discussing something.

Oh, I am Lili, 40, almost 41. Mom of 2, almost 3 boys. I live for hot man love. Inside me is a gay man who I fee literary porn on a daily basis, or he gets bitchy;)

Hey, I'm Ella!

Random fact of the moment: I've never done a "Hi, I'm..." post before. But hey, I'll give it a whirl!

I'm here because one of my favorite people in the world asked me to come, so here's a little bit about me.

I'm loud with friends, quiet with family, laugh often, and cry when I'm frustrated and stressed. I've never really read many fantasy novels but I'm trying to get into some now, so if you know any good ones lemme know!

I'm trying to write a fantasy/sci-fi series, and I think it's going well for the moment.

Hmm... what else... I drink way too much coffee, love video games, and would gladly give up sleep for more time to write. I write fanfiction, including one work-in-progress that I'm really happy with, and would love to one day design my own video game.

Oh, hmm, favorite quote: "Not knowing is not a crime, remaining complacent in your ignorance and feeling no shame is." Best. Line. Ever. At least in my opinion.

Okay, well, that's it for now. Time to write, so see ya later!

"Hey, if you've got a good story, might as well make it slash, and it'll be even better!"

LMFAO! From now on that is going to be my philosophy! XD

Jack, I've said it before, but I bet you'll love my Estelle! If you visit ExoticErotica's page, you can read an M-rated story with him in it. (the title is Pets)

I'm currently, in the middle of rewriting Without Light, which is his debut story, so you won't be able to see him there YET, but within the next 2 chapters you will. His description is also in Tidbits, which is really short and sweet. At that time, Christian is only just meeting Estelle and he's so gorgeous that Chris doesn't even realize he's male! XD

http://www.fictionpress.com/s/2864133/3/Tidbits

It's like 200 words.

Anyway, welcome to the forum! :D I hope I can make something totally fun and new out of it! Here's a question for you! What rating do you prefer to read at? I usually write T that treads the line between T n M. Any slash I write has got to be firmly based in love, that's just my rule. But once they are deeply, passionately in love with each other, the fun stuff can start happening.

;)

1/09/2011 #19
Crystalynn

@Ella

Welcome! Hurray! :D

XD I love that quote! I can't stand people who are happy being ignorant! Ok, there are some exceptions. The news for instance. I do not watch the news because it is just so depressing! Every day someones getting shot or a weather disaster is happening and little black children are suffering on the other side of the world where I can't possibly reach to help them!

I also drink way too much coffee, guilty as charged. I have 4 or 5 cups a day. O_O THEN I forget to eat real food!

Anyways, I didn't know you wrote fanfics! For what series?

I can't write fanfics. I wind up making the character my own and I always wrote AU anyway so... When u get to the point everything is AU, OC, and OOC then you may as well gtfo of ff.net.

Which site do you prefer? FF.net or FP.com? I personally prefer this site because at fanfiction.net, you HAVE to go along with fads if you want to have readers! Once a fandom dies, so does your reading audience.

At Fictionpress, there is no fandom. It's all dependent on you and how good your writing is and how hard you're willing to work in promoting/perfecting it!

That's right up my ally! I love improving both myself and my work! That's why I LOVE reviews!

1/09/2011 #20
Crystalynn

I know! It's so annoying! And when you search for a forum to talk on, fictionpress chooses the oldest ones with the most posts rather than the most active ones!

same thing with communities! All the highest ranked communities are completely DEAD and its impossible to get your stuff listed! I worked my ass off, trying to get even ONE to list my Without Light. It's a good story that's going places and I'm actually an active writer, willing to talk to my readers and give them what they want!

I'm so sick of all these dead, complete stories wracking up thousands of reviews when the writer does not even read them. XD What's the point of reviewing a complete story? There's opportunity for improvement! D:

RANT OVER. :D

I think there's a horny gay male inside of me somewhere. STUCK, down in there. XD Lili, you were saying something about BDSM on the other board and Im sad I didn't get to hear more!

Care to reiterate?

Hello! Thanks for the kind invite. Let's see... I'm 23/f living (hopefully for a while this time!) in midwest USA. I hope to someday move to Australia, maybe when they get their internet troubles fixed. :) I have no ability at all to decide what to focus on, so I dabble in a little bit of everything--I majored in Math and Art, if that explains anything. I have a (completed) YA graphic novel that I hope to send off to publishers when, um, I get off my butt, and I currently repair computers for a living.

I'm on a crusade at the moment to improve the treatment of women in slash fiction, and to get the anime/video game crowd to question and analyze what they're taught regarding this and other related issues. On that note, if you want to read some published slash featuring an awesome female protagonist whose goal is to get the two main guys together in an incredibly built fantasy world, go check out The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

I will happily analyze my own (and other's!) written works to death, so don't ask unless you reaaaallly want to know... :)

And, oh yes, my favorite gay African American sci-fi multiple-Hugo-winning author is Samuel Delany. If that doesn't make you want to read his stuff I don't know what will. :)

@crytal, I hope and am grateful for reviews, so I really hope people DO reiew finshed stoies. I hate doing chapter by chapter because getting 6000 reviews saying "when are you updating" are not really reviews. I would rather get one solid review than 30, that was great, can't wait for the next bit.

@ Lili

You mean you're done? With only one story and only six chapters? D:

Why? Writing is art! If you can create beautiful artwork, I say pump out tons! Don't ever stop! :D

1/09/2011 #24
Crystalynn

@ Chelsea

You've got a graphic novel?! I wanna read it! :D

And when you say you want to improve the treatment of women in slash fiction, do you mean femmslash wherein the women are treated like attention-seeking sex toys, rather than having an actual loving relationship with one another?

Or do you mean slash, wherein the female is usually either the antagonist or is completely ignored while the boys take the limelight?

And yes, I am hoping you will happily reanalyze my written work XD I've changed it alot based on YOUR suggestions! I'd sell my soul to get it up to snuff!

1/09/2011 #25
Lilifrey
Nah,I am writing loads but don't like putting it out until I am done a book. Partly because I can change things if time flows don't work or I change something later in the book. I hate inconsistancies... and I am anal when it comes to books. I look and go... "gee, when did he get a brother, it wasn't mentioned at christmas dinner with the family...."If I am that anal with OTHERS, you can not imagine how annoyed I get with my own inconsistancies.
1/09/2011 #26
IceraMyst

I meant specifically their treatment in guy-slash--I haven't actually read enough femslash to know what's popular there. And you hit the mark as to what issues usually come up. I've been experimenting with different kinds of roles in the Jewel and Snowfall, but even consciously trying to prevent making those kinds of mistakes, I still have a difficult time.... 9_9 One of my favorite authors just wrote an interesting article about how people aren't "Team (female character here)" if you want to check it out: http://mundiemoms.blogspot.com/2010/12/bir2010-day-2-author-guest-post-by.html I need to figure out how to get at least bits of the graphic novel online. The whole thing (at print-quality resolution) is over 400gbs. Obviously, email isn't an option... :P I'll see if I can't figure out how to make a low-quality pdf version. Speaking about that, wouldn't it be cool if FP had a graphic novel section? Wait, never mind--I can just picture what most of it would look like... :) Oh right, I need to get on that. Did you ever end up reading the Ivy/Moon short btw?

1/09/2011 #27
Crystalynn

Hell yeah I read it!

:D It was excellent! Did you ever get that steampunk mess sorted out? You can tell her that if she's changed her mind I'll happily take her place and request a bunch of Mrated Seb/Adrianne yumminess XD

Anyway, about the female role in the male slash story. I have a main char female named Tekkei and while she's technically only the main char's secretary, she actually plays a very crucial role.

When the lead boys break up, it's Tekkei that convinces her boss to go back home and try to make things work. She causes friction between him and his bf many times because she is so gorgeous and gets along with him, but in the end they're just BFFs that totally click. I love her because she's so strong. He's a CEO and the kind of guy that gets stuck on pride, so Tekkei is often the one that has to puncture his big, overinflated ego. XD

You could say she makes the slash possible!

Oh, also! For the graphic novel? You could always use a cam and put it up on youtube! Theres plenty of manga on youtube :D

1/09/2011 . Edited 1/09/2011 #28

@lili

Actually that's exactly WHY I put mine up chapter by chapter! Many times I don't notice inconsistencies because the world/story are already put together in my head! I'll forget to introduce a certain concept, for instance, and then have a character acting in accordance with it!

But then a lovely reader shoots me an email like "WTF" and I go back to edit it!

I love to make sure I have the opinions and approval of others before continuing with a story. What can I say? I'm an entertainer. :D

That quote is pretty awesome, huh? It came from one of my favorite video games, Tales of Symphonia. That's also what I write fanfiction for, mostly. The link to my ff.net page is on my profile here. I'm working on a few other things as well, including Kingdom Hearts, but they've pretty much all been put on the back burner for now.

My Tales story and my work here on Fp are the most important things to me now. I like this site better I think, since it is real stories. But I have a pretty solid fan base for my Tales story, which is why it's so important to me. I love knowing that people are waiting to see what happens to my characters next.

I created a handful of OCs for it, and people tell me that they feel so real that they could have been in the game in the first place! That's one of the best compliments a fanfic author can get, I think.

Yeah, I'm all for improving. And I think I have since joining both sites. I actually found myself correcting the way someone said something on TV the other day!
