alittlebitconfusedTopic: Anything Like it? I was just wondering if anybody knows of any other websites that are similar to fictionpress...Anybody? |
|
Sakka-FenikkusuYeah, a few. Fanfiction.net's one. But, aside from a couple variations, they're all pretty much the same. On a random note, I once had that avatar on another site. |
|
Will SachiksyThe only other similar original fiction sites I've heard of are FanStory and Writing.com. I don't have personal experience with either site, so I can't tell you if they're good. That exact avatar? Did you both do a Google Image search for "Candle in a dark room," or what? |
|
Sakka-FenikkusuYes, that exact avatar. I found it on Avatarity when looking at inanimate objects. =P |
|
concerto49Haven't found anything better though. Even if a lot of people have complained about the problems here, some of the other ones are even worse. |

alittlebitconfusedI have a bunch of pictures on my computer... I just picked on I liked for my avatar |

Aliana MonikaI don't know of any original fiction sites other than this one, but if I'm not mistaken, FictionPress.com and FanFiction.net are sister sites. Except, FanFiction.net is for stories about anime/mangas or TV shows or Books and other stuff that's already been invented by other people and you just write your stories using your characters in their universe (given it's not an AU fic, of course). Other than that, I think MediaMiner.org has an original fiction category, but that isn't really that great of a site if you ask me. |
|
Sakka-FenikkusuYes, they're sister sites. |

Fading Illusionwww.youngwriterssociety.com It's for people ages 13 to 25. It's pretty cool, and it's pretty easy to get reviews there too. I just like the way you post stories on FP. Here, you can actually put stories on alert...Gah! I don' know why I like this site even though that site has more reviewers. . But yeah, it's a great site for poetry and original fiction. |

Royal BlissThat site you posted seems to have a "clique"... You could post something but either way you won't get much feedback on it unless you really butcher it, then people swarm it and point out everything wrong with it. Otherwise it's kind of dead. And if you are one of the "in" members everyone and their brother goes for your stuff...So you pretty much have to sweat blood until people consider you a "member". What's your name on it? | #10 May 09th, 1:08pm . Edited May 09th, 1:14pm

Sakka-FenikkusuLooks like a fairly small, close-knit community. While those can be very nice at times, if you're looking for wide varieties of criticism, etc., bigger sites are usually the way to go. It can be harder to get reviews here sometimes, but when you start, it's like a snowball rolling down a hill - you pick up speed. All in all, the site didn't really impress me, writing samples included. Not to say that the writing at FP is absolutely fantastic - some of it is good, but we've got shit like everywhere else, and a lot of it - but smaller groups generally pride themselves in being more exclusive and high-quality, while that one doesn't seem to be. |

Royal BlissThey spazz out on you if you reply to the reviews they gave you. Not to mention the users (14 year olds) that think they are review giving gods even if the person is way older than them (18+)... And if you have swearing in the story they freak out and think it's because you're not "creative". | #12 May 09th, 1:42pm . Edited May 09th, 1:43pm

Sakka-FenikkusuAnd if you have swearing in the story they freak out and think it's because you're not "creative". Wtf? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. |
