Topic: Man,

I just finished reading Lolita by Vladimir Nobokov. You know that good/bad feeling you get when you finish an amazing book? It's like, a feeling of accomplishment, yet regret for not savoring every last bit of it for as long as possible? My entire being is just completely jumbled, as I'm sure was Nobokov's intention. I'm going to pick this up again, someday. I have to.

Wtf? We've never worried about offending people here. xD As a matter of fact, I'd venture to say that at least ninety percent of the threads here are rude, blatant or offensive in some way.

We've done all kinds of crazy shit. There's been laughing at guys for behaving in a feminine way, putting down people who enjoy fanfiction, discussing how to best cook dead (or living) infants, cussing out people who think 'This foru sucks nuts like dogs!!!!'... and so much more.

Point being, we're the most politically incorrect, crude people you could ever meet. :D And censoring yourself for the sake of not affronting us comes across to me as incredibly silly.

Haha, yeah, really.

I dunno who Jonathan is, but I think a mod deleted it.

Anyway, seriously, I WANT to know what he said. I'm a big girl, lol.

Lolita was good book. It's stupid that people are offended by the subject matter. Well, actually, I can totally see why. That was one of the only books my parents ever forbid me to read - that and the Lovely Bones, which wasn't terribly good. But if you read it, it's not so much about pedophilia (sp?), I think. Well, okay, it is. But it's also about a capture of a degenerating mentality of this man. That's the part that really drew me in. If it were only about pedophelia, and it's success was from the sheer shock value, I never would have liked it.

I just read the 'Three Penny Opera'. I really liked it, until I found out that many bits of it were plagiarized. I was disappointed, but on second thought, maybe that was the authors intention? He was writing about the poorest of poor, and quoting all these high and mighty poets I think for irony. Either way, I listened to the Ballad of Mac the Knife on the computer and it's stuck in my head . . . D:

It was quite masterful. o_o

I think I actually said 'ewww' back then, but I'm a lot more fun now. -shifty eyes- I have a feeling if we had such a conversation again I'd throw some fetus on the barbecue for everyone, with home-made sauce. xD
