"Who let you into our territory?"

"Let? I simply walked along the road without looking up from my book."

Ava would've raised her eyebrows if she had any. She'd kill whoever was meant to be on duty.

"I'd be back in town unaware if you hadn't captured me as a matter of fact." He looked around.

"Don't be a smartarse," she barked, sitting down opposite. She'd keep him until the others got back.

"Under the threat of death? A bit late for that." He looked around some more. "So this is a camp for your kind. I've never seen them put up closely before. What's your name?"

She folded her arms. She wasn't telling him anything. He was probably a spy.

"I'll be honest. I grow tired of this war." He stared up. "What are your thoughts on it?"

Ava was willing to comment on this topic.

"You're getting sick of the war because your side are going to lose."

"Oh? From what I've been told, it's been more or less a stalemate. I suppose there's always the chance of media control from my end though." He yawned lightly.

Ava glared at him.

"....? What is it?" He stared back blankly.

Ava decided not to waste her breath replying to her lowers and sat patiently, waiting for someone to return.

"...." He thought. "Say...what are your interests in literature?"

Ava didn't reply.

"...? You do read, don't you? I heard your kind was more intelligent in general, so I presumed you would favor more intellectual activities?"

"I read," she replied sharply.

"What do you read then?" He asked back.

"None of your business,"

"Hmm. No difference from illiterance then."

Ava had half a mind to smack him, but didn't.

"...." He yawned again.

Another guard came to take over.

"Where did this one come from?"

"The idiot on watch wasn't doing their job properly, it seems,"

"Hello." Jirou glanced over.

"Has this one said anything?"

"Nothing useful,"

"I wasn't asked anything." Jirou yawned again.

Ava frowned.

"....? What is it?"

"Keep him in here and see if he says anything,"

He looked around boredly. "Is it possible to let me continue reading my book?"
