RimmaTopic: The Art of Deception An old story in dire need of some review-love. The technique and style aren't the greatest in this piece, which is why it needs help from all of you wonderful people out there. Despite its impressive run here on this site, time-wise, The Art of Deception has almost no critical reviews whatsoever. Any and all reviews offering criticism, hopefully of the constructive sort, help, pointers, even questions that can help me to clarify the story would be greatly appreciated. It's written in the first person by a boy of slightly less than average intelligence, and possibly a dulled inference of emotions. The story, in a nutshell, is about his coming to terms with (or not) the fact that he does, in reality, have feelings, like humans do. (Please tell me you know that reference? I'm not old, right? Right?) Homosexuality is a thematic element, as is sexuality in general, so I do not recommend the story to anyone who does not think they are mature enough to handle the subjects. If you read it, review it, or just liked it or I dunno, something- for some reason feel like reading a little more, Double-Crosser is the sequel. I warn now, you kind of have to be smart to read and understand Double-Crosser without first having read The Art of Deception- I'm only talking plot-wise, not meaning. Don't say I didn't warn you. |
