((Here is a short prequel about how Mlik and Genna started the team... its not needed to understand the RP, but it does set it up nicely I think :) ))
Malik walked into the dingy New York club, flipping off the bartender when he repeated the same joke he used every single day, "Oi, your too young to be in here!" it wasn't even funny anymore, especially at six in the morning. He runs his hand over his face as he navigates the back rooms without much thought. When he reached his dim office, he went straight to the coffee machine. He was halfway through pressing the too many buttons on the machine, when there was a knock on the door. A quick glance behind him revealed it to be a middle age blond waiting outside the door. He motioned for her to come in as he finished with the coffee maker and it sputtered to life. He turned, still a little dazed from sleep deprivation and lack of coffee.
"Good morning Mr. Peace, I was hoping I could speak to you?' Malik forced his mind awake to search his mind for who exactly this was, and why she had to speak to him at six in the flipping morning, before his second cup of coffee or his morning paperwork. He glanced at the dingy mounds of paper idly, before remembering the conversation he had last night with headcourters.
"Mrs. Price! Genna, I didn't think you'd be here this... early..." He scrunched his eyes trying to get rid of the results of four hours of sleep and the early hour. He waved to the chair in front of his desk, "Please sit down, would you like some coffee?"
"I'd love some, when its ready," she replied sitting down gracefully, stretching a little. He heard a light thup on the brittle ceiling of the room and he winced.
"Please be careful with your wings, I don't have the funding for a new ceiling." he said, only a little serious as he sat in his own, more conformable chair, putting up his feet on a clear space of his sad fake wood desk.
Genna snorted delacatly, "As if I'd be so uncoordinated." She eyed his mounds of paperwork and raised a light eyebrow, "I thought you were in the process of delegating out your responsibilites."
Malik rolled his eyes, flipping through one of the manila folders, "This is the process of delegating. I think I can blame you for that."
Genna wrinkled her nose, "I organized us, and made up actually work. Its not my fault that you insist on being ten places at once." she sighed, "That's not why I'm here anyways.'
The coffee maker beeped angry as it finished, and Malik got up to pour the hot liquid into two only slightly chipped mugs. "Why are you here then?" he asked, handing her the plain purple mug, keeping the one with the unicorn for himself.
She took a small sip, before setting it down to cool, "As you are aware, there have been recent call to action from the media for 'super heroes'" she wrinkled her nose a little at the last phrase.
Malik smirked a little and nodded, "Ya, a bunch of comic obsessed normals with blogs wanting to live out their superman fantasies, why?"
"Well the society thinks there's some merit to it."
Malik did not spit out his coffee. he did swallow painfully before forcing out a painfully hoarse, "What?!"
Genna had a look of distaste on her face as she nodded, "I told Gran she was crazy when she told me. But you have to admit there is some merit to it. It might make our jobs easier, and cut down on the backlash when one of us go evil. And mutations are growing in number," she scratched her ear, an odd mixture of distaste and acceptance on her face, "it's really not the worst idea they could come up with. And image what happens if we don't make a team ourselves? At leaste we're mostly trained. Get some amateurs with delusions of granduar? Could be disasterous..."
Malik had put down his coffee and was massaging his temples, his face scrunched up in exasperation, "Ya, I get it I guess. Its better us doing it, but why are you telling..." his eyes lit up in realization, and his hands fell from his face. He stared an Genna, just stared. "No. There is no way you are pulling me into this shit. I'm buzy!" he winced as his voice went up an octave at the end.
Genna just raised an eyebrow, "Come now, do you think I'm any more happy with this? You have to admit you are one of the best qualified to lead this-"
"Wait lead?! Gen-"
She held up a hand and continued on forcefully, "and you were cutting down on your work here anyways-"
"Ya, so I have a hope in hell in graduating!"
"With a little more work, and a few more senior members, we can get this place to work without you." she finished smugly
Malik was dumb struck. "Gen, you know I respect you and your opinions, but I've never even been outside New York area! Exept-" he added when she started to interupt "on official business, but that was only to headquarters, and I don't even know where that was!"
Genna leaned back and looked at him expectantly, (and a little disdainfully, damn her!) her wings making a slight fluttering noise. Malik leaned back too, running his hand over his face again, glad he didn't put on any make up this morning, it'd be totally ruined by now. He tried to think of a good argument, or something intelligent to say. It was damn hard with her looking at him like that, she had to have some sort of power that did that. He finally settled on:
Genna smiled smugly, "You have a month to finish things up here. You have a month." She got up primly, bouncing a little, looking half her age. "We'll be in touch!" and she pranced out of the room.
Malik sat forward, cleared a spot on his crowded desk, and slammed his head on it.7/09/2011 #2
Here is another prequel, this one spell checked :) this one describes M's story, but mostly its development of Lyfe and of the relationship between Malik and Genna.
