"I just need a friend. You know, someone to talk to. All my friends left for some reason."

"Oh..." Ivy was visibly surprised now. "I guess I can mange that." She said with a laugh.

Sam smiled, "My name's Samantha, but I'd prefer it if you called me Sam."

"Nice to meet you Sam." She held her hand for her to shake. "I'm Ivy."

"Nice to meet you too," Sam took her hand and shook it.

"Where's your family?" Ivy asked her curiosity rising.

"At home, fighting, or at work."

"I see..." Ivy nodded fiddeling with her necklace.

"How about your family?"

Ivy averted her eyes to the ground. "I... I don't have one." She said quietly remembering the scene she had walked into when she had come home for the last time.

Sam blinked, "Oh, I'm sorry. That was stupid of me to ask. Well, maybe you know my friend Nero. He used to hang out here a lot. He moved away."

"I'm sorry but I don't recall anyone named Nero..." Ivy apologized. "Though the reason might be that I don't really have friends." She pondered.

"Okay. Well that's one thing we have in common. No current friends."

Ivy let out a dry laugh. "What a great start."

(I need to go to bed... Night!)

"It'll get better." (K! Have fun... sleeping)

"Let's hope so." Ivy said with a laugh, shaking her head. Suddenly her stomach reminded her of its exisence. "Sorry about that..." She said sheepeshly her cheeks burning.

"Hey, that's ok. We all get hungry. Let's go out for lunch."

Ivy stood up from the ground and dusted her pants. "It would be great idea if I'd had some money..." She said smiling apologetically.

"That's okay, I have enough to pay for two."

"You would pay... I can't let you do that..." Ivy said feeling slightly put out and uncomfortable.

"I was thinking of just getting hot dogs. They're not that much, you know."

"Okay." Ivy nodded and smiled. "Thanks."

Sam stood up, "I think there's a stand around the corner."

"Great! I'm starving." Ivy started to walk to the supposed direction.

Sam walked next to her. (Sorry, went to see the Avengers and the movie had technical difficulties. Everyone did shadow puppets for an hour while we were waiting for it to come back on :) )

Ivy glanced at the girl from the corner of her eyes. "So, how old are you?" To her Sam looked quite young.

"Thirteen."

Thirteen? She was so young... Briefly Ivy remembered that her younest brother would be Sam's age now. "You're thirteen and you have no one to hang out with?"

Sam nodded, "Everyone else thinks I'm weird. I believe in the supernatural. In fact, I've met a few."

Supernatural. A cold shiver went down Ivy's spine at the mention of the word. "W-where have you seen them?" She asked moving her twitching hands to her pants' pockets.
