Not referring to any particular building or place, but mainly the streets (and skies) of the city of Metropolis.

The Amazing Marvel soared through the evening sky, toward a high-rise that was covered with the brilliant shafts of U.S. Army searchlights.

"YA-HOOO!" The seventeen year old shouted excitedly when he saw what the searchlights were aimed at. It was a giant mechanical spider that was climbing the high building, though the Marvel could only guess at its purpose for the ascension.

The Marvel flew close to the spider and hovered in midair just above it. The boy waited for any type of response from the creature before attempting to attack it, but the spider simply stopped moving, as though it had been shut off.

The Amazing Marvel lowered himself until he was standing on the giant body. He rapped his knuckles on the body and heard that it was almost hollow inside. Suddnenly the spider buckled and threw the boy from its back and the superhero started falling out of the sky toward the street below.

Ozymandias raised an eyebrow when he heard the high-pitched war cry. This Amazing Marvel character was going to be more of a hindrance than a help. He concentrated and rose swiftly into the air to the same altitude as the Marvel, floating directly in front of him.

"Good evening, Marvel," Ozymandias said with a sigh. "I presume that mechanized arachnid drew your attention as well."

"Oh, dear." Ozymandias sighed again and reached out with his thoughts. With his mind he grabbed the Marvel by the scruff of the neck and hauled him back up.

"I thought I felt something!" The Amazing Marvel said when he felt Ozymandias pull him up. "Was that you I flew past? I thought you were a fly!" He laughed.

"Very funny. Now, did you plan on barelling straight at that spider and getting knocked back again, or are you willing to depart entirely from your character and approach the problem strategically?"

"Listen, fellow, I can handle the big guy."

"Your recent rendezvous with Newton's first and third laws would beg to differ."

"Well then, Ozywomandias. What do you suggest?"

Maximilianus

Ozymandias passed over that, even if it looked like the Marvel had spent a great deal of time writing it. "It seems to be climbing up the side of the building. A fall from that height might destroy it. Perhaps you might consider tripping it. Or, fly in such a manner that it starts hitting itself."

"I suppose you don't see all those people down there." The Amazing Marvel said, pointing to the various soldiers and reporters standing at the base of the building, disregarding their safety.

Ozymandias considered for a moment. "How fast can you fly?"

9/24/2011 #13
J.A. Fletcher

"Well, I can fly faster than a Gee Bee, and its top speed is about two-ninety, three hundred."

9/24/2011 #14
Maximilianus

"Very well. I might be able to lend you ome speed by slingshotting you, so to speak, with my telekinesis. Add that to your momentum and we might be able to crash into the spider and plow it into the Kent River."

"I like it." The Amazing Marvel admitted. "All right! Let's kill a spider!"

(Eh.)

Maximilianus

"Right." Ozymandias reached out with his thoughts and took the scruff of the Marvel's neck. "You'd best enter your flight position to increase your aerodynamics." He began to swing the Marvel around and around in a circle, building up speed.

(You think of something, smart guy.)

"I suppose I would if I knew what that meant." The Marvel muttered, and prepared himself for flight.

Once Ozymandias had built up enough momentum he released his thoughts and sent the Marvel barrelling at the giant spider.

The Marvel was shot toward the spider, hugged his arms against his chest, tilted his head downward and braced his shoulders for impact. He crashed against the large body, sending the spider and The Marvel flying toward the Kent River that divided Metropolis.

Ozymandiass watched with crossed arms as the Marvel sent the spider flying. The crowd below began to chant:

"Marvel! Marvel! Marvel!"

No one ever cheered for him, even if it was his idea. Perhpas the Amazing Marvel was more likable. Or his powers were mor media-friendly. Or maybe it was mechanics; the name "Ozymandias" is probably damn hard to chant.

The Marvel felt that the spider was falling from the sky, and the seventeen year old marvel flew under the spider and carried it the rest of the way until he let it drop into the river with a giant splash. Ozymandias sure had a swell idea to get rid of the spider when he saw the giant mechanical monster fizzle and spark in the water. He flew back toward the scene of choas, where Ozymadias was still hanging in the air.

Ozymandias sighed once again. "Turn to face the cameras, Marvel. Looks like you've made the front page. Again."

"Cameras!" The Marvel looked down and saw the tiny flashes of popping camera bulbs. "Swell! Let's go down there!"

Ozymandias knew full well what would happen if he went down there with the Marvel. Either he would be ignored entirely or yelled at for "getting in the Marvel's way when he had 'im!"

"No, Marvel, thank you. I have other business to attend to."

The Marvel said nothing more, but swooped down toward the crowds. He basked in the cheers and 'attaboy's thrown out by the crowd.

"Are they going to give you a comic strip?" One reporter asked.

"They had better if they don't want their paper to sink!" The Marvel replied with a grin.

"Who was that man with you?" asked another. "Is he your new sidekick?"

Ozymandias overheard this. "Pfah." He flew off without another word.

"I think my agent would advise against answering too many questions." The Marvel answered suddenly, and went flying off.

A man in a gray business suit was the only one in the crowd not waving and shouting after the Marvel as he flew off. He smoked a cigarette in a long holder and spoke with a thick german accent. "Unt ze first move is made. Aufwidersehen, Marvel." He finished the cigarette, ground it under his heel, and hailed a cab.

There was work to be done.
