![]() Les snatched the coat off Sparky's head. Sparky threw a punch at Les's jaw. This sent Les back, as he had not expected it, and Sparky took off running. Les began his pursuit. 9/29/2011 #31 |
![]() Caroline headed straight for the closest cover she could find, a little wooded area towards the edge of campus. She didn't care what was going on behind her so long as that man wasn't following her. As soon as she made it into the trees she began to look around. Finding a slightly hollow fallen tree, she squeezed herself inside, hoping that was enough to keep the man from finding her. Caroline didn't know why he was after her and at the moment it didn't seem all that important. 9/29/2011 #32 |
![]() Sparky had lost the creep somehow, and went flying into a hollow tree. He hit something soft and warm, and this time it wasn't a swarm of angry bees. 9/29/2011 #33 |
![]() Caroline resisted the urge to scream when she felt something or someone else join her in the hollow tree. At first she thought it was the man who had thrown her in the car but then she realized that she wasn't being pulled out of the tree. "Get away from me!" she hissed. 9/29/2011 #34 |
![]() Sparky was struck with the sudden urge to want to get away from the person he had run into. In fact, that was all he ever wanted to do. He pushed himself out of the tree and fell on his rear, dumbfounded. "Huh?" He said to himself once he started craving Myrna Loy again. "What just happened?" 9/29/2011 #35 |
![]() Caroline closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself a little and keep from completely losing control. She had no idea what was going on but right now all she wanted to do was hide until she felt it was safe to head back home. 9/29/2011 #36 |
![]() Sparky looked around for the crazy guy chasing him. What had just happened in the past few minutes was terrible. Well, it could have been worse. He could be wearing a wig of angry bees. He reached up to rub his head that was now growing a terrible headache, and found that he was indeed wearing a wig of angry bees. "GAAAAHHHHHH!!!!" Sparky jumped up and started running around in circles. He stopped momentarily to beat his head against the hollow tree, but continued running around in circles while screaming. 9/29/2011 #37 |
![]() Baron von Blitzkrieg resolved himself back to one and at super-speed rushed to the scene. "Ach," he mused, "it is a sad day when the heroes cause their own chaos. It seems zis Depression affects even I." 9/30/2011 #38 |
![]() Caroline remained inside the hollow tree, making herself as small as possible and forcing herself to stay still. It didn't matter that she could feel a few different insects on her. They were nothing compared to the unknown chaos outside of the tree. 9/30/2011 #39 |
![]() "OH, GOD!" Sparky cried in anguish. "I'M HEARING ANGRY BEES AND GERMANS!" "Baron Von Blitzkrieg!" The Sergeant shouted in full uniform, coming through the trees. "It's been a while." 9/30/2011 #40 |
![]() Caroline cringed when she heard that man's voice again. It was only the second time she had heard him say anything and already she did not like hearing him say anything. She tried to slow her breathing, hoping that no one out there could hear her or find her in the tree. 9/30/2011 #41 |
![]() "OW, THIS HURTS SO BADLY! HOW COULD I POSSIBLY HAVE FORSEEN THIS?" Sparky was now rolling back and forth on the ground, his trousers mysteriously gone now, although his shoes were still on his feet. 9/30/2011 #42 |
![]() "Indeed, Herr Feldwelbel. I see you remain as...dense as ever, nicht wahr?" 9/30/2011 #43 |
![]() "I don't suppose you'll leave politely." The Sergeant said as he took a step forward out of the way of Sparky, who was now on fire. 9/30/2011 #44 |
![]() "Oh, Herr Feldwelbel, I plan to leave vith ze utmost courtesy...unt your head on a platter." 9/30/2011 #45 |
![]() "What makes you so sure of yourself?" 9/30/2011 #46 |
![]() Baron von Blitzkrieg multiplied himslef quicly, one after another, until there were at least fifty copies surround the two. All of them snapped out their arms in the Party salute. "SIEG HIEL!" 9/30/2011 #47 |
![]() The Sergeant's eyes scanned the countless men around him nervously. "If it's a scrap you want, I'll give you one." 9/30/2011 #48 |
![]() Caroline could hear that more people were standing only feet away from her hiding place. If she tried to slip out of the tree and run it was likely someone would catch her or stop her. There were too many of them for her to use her skill to escape and she doubted she would be able to fight them. The only thing she could do was continue to hide. Then again, if the people were about to get into a fight, would staying there even be a safe place? Only time would tell. 9/30/2011 #49 |
![]() The clones of the Baron always spoke in perfect unison. "Eins, zwei, drei, GO!" The clones began zooming back and forth across the littler circle at superhuman speeds, throwing roundhouse punches as they went. Steve crept silenlt behind the two superhumans, and around the massive group of one. He ducked behind the tree and held out his hand. "Come quickly," he said to Caroline, "I don't know how long they'll be distracted." 10/01/2011 #50 |
![]() The Sergeant was being pummeled by this mass of clones, and he threw wild punches back at them, though he could not distinguish a foe from thin air. "AAAHHHH!" Sparky cried meanwhile. "WHERE HAVE MY PANTS GONE??" 10/01/2011 #51 |
![]() In all the chaos Caroline heard one voice that stood out from all the rest; it was kinder. She slipped out of the tree and moved over to this new man, one she recognized as a professor on campus. Then she simply nodded and started moving away from the fight going on behind her. 10/01/2011 #52 |
![]() Steve put a finger to his lips and gently took Caroline's hand as he led her back to the Quad. "Are you alright? did he hurt you?" A few of the Sergeant's wild punches met their marks. The Baron's clones were fragile, and most tended to only need a punch or a bullet to dissipate. 10/01/2011 #53 |
![]() Caroline only held onto his hand long enough to get back to the Quad and then she pulled away. She still felt that itch in her gut, the one that made her want to force others into doing things for her. "He tried to kill me. What part of that is all right?" 10/01/2011 #54 |
![]() Steve shrugged. "The fact that he failed?" 10/01/2011 #55 |
![]() "That only happened because some idiot ran into him!" 10/01/2011 #56 |
![]() "Oh, by the way, that little tap on the shoulder you got was a bullet." Steve shrugged again. "One can only speculate as to what or whom caused it to slow down like that." 10/01/2011 #57 |
![]() Caroline nodded and took a shaky breath. "I saw the bullet. I would really just like to know why that madman wanted to kill me in the first place." 10/01/2011 #58 |
![]() "He was Sargeant USA, judging by the rapid costume change." Steve cocked his head in curiosity. "The Sargeant works for the government. Why would the government want to get rid of you?" He gently sent out tendrils of thought into Caroline's mind, hoping to decipher truth and lie. 10/01/2011 #59 |
![]() "I...I don't know. I haven't done anything. I'm only a student, nothing special." It all sounded plausible, even though she knew it was a lie. She didn't know anyone else who could do what she could do. 10/01/2011 #60 |
