Will SachiksyTopic: Ruined Ideas Ever had an idea for a story that was ruined by the format? Or by class requirements? Or Fictionpress?I wrote a story in the format of an online forum (only "corrected" for spelling and grammar), but according to the rules of Fictionpress, no chat/text-based entries may be posted on this site. I was just wondering if anyone else had any little problems like this. |

YonderClass requirements...In seventh grade, I believe... four or so years ago.. We had to type a Christmas themed story for keyboarding class, and the teacher gave us a paper explaining what the rough theme should be. I got a storyline going in my head, and I started to write. The next day, the teacher told us that the story wasn't allowed to be any longer than one thousand words, which completely made my idea unusable. I had to rewrite it, taking out almost the whole plot. I'm just glad now that when I receive a writing assignment, I get a minimum number of words to use instead of a maximum... |

Will SachiksySort of reminds me of those timed writing assignments. I'd make these well-constructed outline, or just think all the way through the plot in my head, only to realized that I didn't have time to write the story I intended. What's worse is that all of these stories felt very rushed (because they were) compared to what I had planned. |

Ivory TaintI have the exact same problem. A lot of times, I don't even get to finish my story. :( I guess it's my fault though because I often think of too many ideas. -chuckle-Off topic- Sorry I posted your real name in the review. I didn't realize I did that until after I sent it. Dang it. :/ |

FreakierThanThouGrr, I've had that happen. The worst grade I've gotten on a writing assignment this year (which was still an A, but that's not the point) was on what I thought was one of my best stories. That I submitted to class. It was supposed to be about travel and I started yammering about the character. Made a really interesting one, but forgot to write much about where they were. What can I say? I've never been to British Columbia. Stupid assigned location.... stupid restrictive assignments.... |
