Topic: Writer's Block
The inevitable curse of writers. Anyone afflicted right now? Have any horror stories to share? Cures?

I haven't been able to finish anything since November. I think it's because I'm far too busy. I keep getting ideas, but if I don't keep at writing for ages, I can't get them out in time and they fizzle and die. That said, I actually have more free time this year than I've had since year 10...

That happens to me all the time. I have at least twenty unfinished stories and poems, and at least five of them are only titles.

I still have problems even when I'm not busy (such as this summer). Blank pages seem less like open possibilities and more like death traps to me. Takes me forever to get past the first sentence, but once I have a few paragraphs finished I find it much easier to write. The power of momentuum, perhaps?

Whenever I get an idea, I write as much as I possibly can about the essence of the idea, anything really important about it. That's why I carry a notebook around. That way, I won't forget important details that made the idea a good one.

I always keep hearing people say to carry a notebook around to write things down, and when I do, I never find/ think of anything to write down. Then the very first day I give up carrying one around, I get I vary good idea I forget later. And then the process repeats. I'm not saying it's not a good idea (it is), but it hasn't worked for me so far.
