![]() Up to the point where I want to name a character for my stories, I want them to be memorable and unusual. Some of the most common names are pretty memorable, and most of them are pretty stale to use. I thought up some names that I don't ususally hear from anime or name dictionaries so here: Kisaki Ryochi Araki Hoji Koryo Kirino When you think about it, when you learn Japanese, you realize that its pretty fun thinking up what is common, and replacing some syllables with another. I tried to translate these names from romanji to kanji, but most of them don't even exist. Does anyone have any other names you don't hear often? 2/09/2009 #1 |
![]() Well I think Sanoko is a pretty name. i cant remember what it means or anything like that but I guess its not used because it sounds like the gas station.... But I still think its pretty. Nagasaki or Shinzuke would be nice names for boys, but like you probably do I just put together hiragana characters that sound good together and look up any meaning later. Here's something I like to mess with people about the Japanese word for octopus is Tako pronounces like the English word taco... I know that was random but I enjoy telling people that! 3/07/2009 #2 |
![]() Well, if you're learning Japanese and you've got a good grasp of Kanji, making up unusual last names is pretty much limitless. There's a drama that I saw awhile called Yukan Club, in which two of the characters' names are Miroku Shouchikubai (Miroku is the first name--- and he's a guy) and Seishirou Kikumasamune (also a guy). Really unusual but very unique at the same time. ^^ 6/30/2009 . Edited 7/02/2009 #3 |
