Anna looked at the house doubtfully. Well, this had to be the one. She knocked as hard as she could on the door, hoping that her best red dress looked clean and smart enough.

MAYOR HARRIS

Mayor Harris opened the door gruffly, annoyed at his lack of household help. He noticed a young lady standing on his stoop. "Yes?"

ANNA

"Um, well, excuse me, sir, but I came about the position of school teacher in this town...?" Anna said, uncharacteristically nervous.

MAYOR HARRIS

"You can have it. That's what you wanted, eh?"

ANNA

"Yes, sir," Anna said, nodding "When should I begin?"

MAYOR HARRIS

Mayor Harris shrugged. "Whenever you are ready, miss."

ANNA

"All right," Anna said, nodding and all ready beginning to turn away "Thank you."

((xD I'm thinking about throwing Clem and Susie's mom or dad in here...cuz they were born in the Wild West! Maybe one of their parents as a kid?))

MAYOR HARRIS

"Any time. And what is your name? I've never seen you 'round these parts."

ANNA

"I'm Anna; I'm new in town."

MAYOR HARRIS

"Nice to meet ya, Anna. I hope you'll like Briar Patch."

"I think I will, sir," Anna said, nodding and smiling "Well, I won't take up any more of your time. Good bye, and I hope you have a good day."
