Bex Eaton looked up from the HaloScreen of her computer, noting the time. She should really Get to class...

Bex sighed and walked outside of her cabin, into the housing complex with mismatched buildings. She looked behind her to find the concrete building she called home. It was homier than it seemed. Bex walked swiftly through the forest, noting the glass bio dome that kept them all safe.

She walked right up to the door of the cream colored building with the sign reading Advanced Techopathy. It was her favorite class, being that it was tailored to anything tech. She carefully touched the messenger bag holding all of her notes she had ever taken.

Trystan kept his eyes low. He wasn't quite sure, what he was supposed to be doing here. He felt nervous energy building in his stomach, there was something comfortable about this place but he wouldn't allow it to lull him into a false sense of security. After all, he didn't want to kill anyone today... or any other day.

Advanced Technopathy. He sighed, he knew he should've told them that he was a pyrokinetic... or whatever that fancy term for the weird thing that he was. He was so screwed. He looked up staring at the intimidating building. Why was he here again?

He was still staring when a girl rammed into him. She fell gracelessly to the floor, and he couldn't stop the barking laughter. At her glare, he offered his hand apologetically. "I'm sorry. I'm new here."

"oh, it's okay. I was nervous on my first day, too." Bex said, looking questioningly in his direction. "you're taking advanced technopathy on your first day?" she remembered her first day at camp, and how they only assigned this class to her because of her powers... "are you a technopath too? I always wanted to meet another." she said excitedly.

Trystan could tell she was really excited to have another of her kind with her, but really didn't want to give this girl the wrong idea. Especially not when her huge eyes were making him feel guilty. "Uh, I wouldn't say technopath per se... I'm more of a... technoretard? You see I didn't tell them what my power was in case they kicked me out... I mean, it's not that bad... Please stop me from talking." He tried to explain, laughingly waving his arms in the air.

He could tell she was disappointed. "I'm really sorry. They just put me here, because there was nothing else running that wasn't full." He scratched his head, smiling nervously.

"don't worry. There are tons of technotards in our class, for example, my brother Jackson. Anyway, let's go. Ms .Levy hates it if anyone is late. " The two walked through the swinging doors into an air conditioned classroom. One wall was entirely windows, and the other solid steel. The last two were taken up by rows upon rows of laptops. Bex sat down at her spot in the front row, and checked her messenger bag to make sure the Haloscreens were still intact. She turned around to see Jackson fooling around with his friends, a soft green glow embarking from his hands. Of course he was the lucky one, getting the ability to shoot bolts of lime electricity. He wasn't that different from her, with his close cut brown hair, even though most of it was dyed green. Jackson was three years younger than Bex, but was still The same hight as her. Bex motioned for the boy to come sit in the first row. Even though her new friend wasn't a technopath that didn't mean that he couldn't get on ms.Levy's good side.

Trystan looked nervously at the front seat. He couldn't sit there. He would attract too much attention and attention led to questions and questions inevitably to trouble. He saw the welcoming gaze of this girl and he couldn't help himself, he had to please her especially since he had disappointed her so fully.

"I'm Trystan, by the way. My friends call me Sparrow. At least that's what they would call me if I had any friends. And you would be?" He grinned.

"Bex Eaton." she smiled back. She hated to be called Rebecca because of her parents. "okay class, time to begin." ms Levy called from her spot in front of the steel wall. "everyone grab a laptop." all of the kids went back to the wall of computers, save for Bex, who removed a Haloscreen from her bag, expanding the digitalized particles to the size of a laptop.

"Woah. Holy crackers on toast. That's... that can't be a computer can it?" Trystan's eyes widened at the thought. It was amazing, like something out of a comic book. Her powers were amazing, a technopath. She could do amazing things. But then again, his powers weren't exactly textbook normalcy. He shuddered at the thought of burning flesh, he wished he was a technopath now more than ever.

"I see you, mr..." The teacher, apparently Miss Levy interuppted his thoughts.

"Fierbyrd." Trystan supplied.

"I see you are not a technopath. This is what a truly gifted student can do. What is, praytell, your power, Mr Fierbyrd?" Her face in a sneer, she obviously had no respect for any other type of power.

"I don't know, Miss. I'll show you mine if you show me yours." He winked, as the class whooped. Miss Levy smiled smugly. "I'll gladly show you."

Ms. Levy stepped up to the steel wall, and took a handful of magnetic filings from a bowl on her desk. She threw the small beads with fury at the wall. And they stuck, as expected. What happened next was the best part. The teacher raised her hand, and the particles zipped off of the wall, speeding towards the class. They danced in formations only preformed by military planes. A cluster of said magnets landed on the laptop in front of Sparrow. They crawled into it and lit the screen up. Bex couldn't see the screen from where she was sitting, but she knew it read something along the lines of: Your turn, Mr. Fierbyrd.

Trystan applauded loudly. It was pretty impressive. These technopaths could really do amazing things. He felt himself sweating now. He didn't know if he should. He had such little restraint on his flames, that he was unsure if he should use them yet. At least not in public. Miss Levy was smiling even smug-er than before.

"Don't you have powers, Mr Fierbyrd? If that's the case, it's quite okay with me." The way she said, irritated him. He pulled himself back into check, grinding his teeth.

"Of course but I'm not sure you can handle it."

"I'm a big girl, I'm sure I could." Trystan didn't know what to do. He really didn't want to risk anyone's life.

"Miss Levy, we have a new student. A Miss Jaxyn, she has been assigned to Rebecca as a partner." A girl interrupted and Trystan collapsed into his seat, hopefully Miss Levy would forget their bargain.

Bex felt anger well up inside her. Rebecca!? And secondly, she had a partner? She was going to use the class to recompute her virtual gyrospanner... She sighed. This would be a horrible year if this Jaxyn girl didn't know how to handle a computer.

"And when will this new addition be joining us?" Miss Levy raised a brow, obviously irritated that her lesson had been interrupted. The student shifted their weight, uncomfortably.

"She won't be joining your class, miss. In fact, she won't be joining any classes until tomorrow. I was just sent to tell you that Rebecca Eaton would be looking after her, and that Miss Eaton had a new roommate. I really should go... I have to get back to class." The student closed the door, and an erruption of conversation followed. They asked each other who could this girl be? What could she do? Why was she here?

He could see Bex's indignation at the use of her proper name. He gave a small smile. He had a feeling he would like this girl, she was... interesting.

"Why do you think she's so special?" Trystan whispered.

"I don't know, and I Don't care." she hissed. "As long as she keeps her hands away from the Supercomputer, she could be the Messiah for all I care." Bex removed a stylus for the Haloscreen, and began scribbling notes, things she had to remember to lock, hide, or burn before this girl came.

"Okay class, time to continue our lesson, today, we will be recording binary!" the teacher called.

...

the two students walked side by side to the cabin complex. "So here's the deal;" Bex began. "that was the first class. you get twenty minutes to take a break, then another twenty minutes to have lunch, then you have Power Development right after. What cabin are you staying in?" Bex looked out over the massive area of mismatched buildings, and then to the yellow schedule in Trystan's hand.

7/24/2012 #13
XxLadyKnightLizxX

Trystan scratched his head, embarrassed. "Um... well. I don't exactly have a cabin. Me... wood... close-in spaces... We don't mix. The guys at administration said I could sleep close to the fire at night so I don't get too cold. Not that would be a problem, I quite enjoy the cold, especially when..." He stopped himself. "I was rambling wasn't I? Next time I do that, slap me." Bex gave a slight smile, and was about to say something.

Suddenly a crash, splintered through the camp. Shovels zoomed through the air, all the ruckus seemed to be coming from the Infirmary.

7/24/2012 #14
QueenOfGothica

She was about to explain how not all the cabins were made of wood, like hers, because Administrations was afraid of her lighting the place up with an electricity overload.

But that could wait.

She prayed to god that this accident didn't involve Jackson, and ran towards the infirmary.

Doctors wearing scrubs and face masks gathered around the space, surging into a single spot. Medical equipment rose and floated above the ground. Trystan dodged a syringe that flew past his head. Trystan felt a weird tug at the bottom of his stomach, at the power within. He didn't know what was happening. He bashed it down, hoping he wouldn't kill anyone. Not today.

"What the hell?" He muttered.

"Kids! What are you doing here? Get out quickly! It's too dangerous." A doctor yelled, finally noticing them gaping in the doorway. They were obviously getting overpowered, the average-joe scientists of the camp were hardly superhuman.

Trystan looked to Bex.

Bex sighed and walked away, motioning for Sparrow to follow. When he complied, they walked a good ways back to the cabins, and Bex stopped. She removed the HaloScreen connected to the webcam she planted at the infirmary.

The scene unfolding was devastating. Beds were overturned, nurses limped away injured. There were medical supplies and glass splintered on the floor. It was a battlefield. The doctors were pushed back by some great force, and they could see a girl. Her eyes glowed a bright white, shining as her limp body floated above the bed. Another doctor tried to get close to her but he couldn't seem to move any closer.

"Bex, have you ever seen shit like that in your life?" Trystan couldn't help the awe that leaked into his tone. It was amazing. She was probably more powerful than even him, and maybe just as destructive.

7/25/2012 #18
QueenOfGothica

"Only when my brother accidentally electrocuted the cat." she said, almost in a Daze. This girl...

"oh sh**. This girl's my roommate, isn't she?"

7/25/2012 #19
XxLadyKnightLizxX

"Must be. No wonder she couldn't get to class. I don't think she's even awake. Bex, you can't be alright with having that - he pointed at the powerful being almost glowing with power - with you, here. If she has that much power when she's asleep, what kind of power is she going to have when she's wide awake?" Trystan couldn't keep his eyes away, couldn't even blink. Someone... someone who could understand. Maybe even help him. He shook his head, that much power in one place could only be destructive.

He finally noticed Bex angrily looking up something. Typing as fast as lightning, the pages went so fast that Trystan could barely read what was going on. Her lips were in a grim line, as she scrolled quickly page after page.

"Administrations lists her power as 'Physic', but they rated her a level two danger." she looked up to the Confusion in Sparrow's eyes. "The Facility has a rating system of dangerous powers from one to five. one being deadliest, five harmless. the more you control Your power, the higher the number. My brother is of course rated two, and I'm rated four.'

Bex turned back to thee screen. "By the way, don't tell anyone i hacked Administrations." she pulled up Facebook, and searched for the Jaxyn girl.

7/26/2012 #21
XxLadyKnightLizxX

"What exactly is your brother's power again?" Trystan asked, he knew he should've told them about his powers. There were so many dangers, so much potential energy that could explode at any moment. They deserved to know. Especially Bex, whose brother was like him. Possibly out of control, and halfway to insanity.

He watched as the girl's face came up. You could tell a lot about a person from their Facebook, and if he could see it. He wondered what Bex could see. Under 100 friends, not exactly social and someone with no network of support. She was... strangely beautiful. For someone who could cause so much damage, she had an icy beauty to her. She never made statuses on herself. So she was secretive. Somehow, he couldn't imagine her being a monster, there was something about her... Bex coughed, trying to gain his attention again.

"My brother... you could call him an unstable energy constructor. green energy, as he puts it. I see it more as Lime myself, but..." she shook her head. she was rambling on again, wasn't she? She pulled up an open tab on her HaloScreen, and began to decode the binary in the Facebook archives.

Much too easy.

Bex skimmed the paragraphs of information set before her.

"Jaxyn seems to be using a laptop, based on the IP address, and the wi-fi signal leads to a historic neighborhood. let me check the address..." she pulled up Google Earth (Modified, of course) and pasted the address into the search bar. "Home owned by her grandmother and it seems-"

her thought was cut off by a short siren running through the wooded area. "Ugh. Lunch already? we just got to the good part of the hunt."

Trystan walked out of the building, and was shocked to see a crowd of students circled around something. He pushed his way to the front, and spotted a little boy looking up at an intimidating figure.

"C'mon draw for me little man. You think you're so tough, so much better than us? C'mon hit me, I dare you." A tall, muscular boy shouted. He pushed the little boy, whose hair was covering his eyes. The boy looked so small, so innocent. Trystan couldn't help it and stepped into the circle.

"Hey you, what the heck do you think you're doing? He's just a kid, leave him alone." Trystan growled. He hated bullies, especially ones who knew they had the advantage and lived to humiliate people who were less fortunate in the muscle department or couldn't stand up for themselves.

He stood eye to eye with bully.

"I can do what I want, when I want got that new kid? I've been hearing rumours, that you don't even have a power. That you're mundane. Bet they're all true. Here because of daddy's money, scrapper?" The bully pushed him, but Trystan held firm, smiling grimly.

"I'm a level one. Do you want to know what I did to my daddy?" Trystan replied sadistically. He felt so tired of bullies, of people who thought they had so much control.

The little kid put a hand on his arm, forcing Trystan to break eye contact.

"I can handle this myself," the boy said blandly, pushing strands of hair out of eyes. "Stay out of this."

He casually looked down at his shirt and noticed that it had come untucked, and quickly tucked it under his pants as if nothing was going on.

He then looked back up with blank eyes that said absolutely nothing.

Bex rolled her eyes. Jack always acted like that. she shook her head from the fringe of the crowd.

pulling the level card.

that was low.

Sparrow didn't even know Louis' power.

Bex pulled a HaloScreen out of her bag, informing the Administrations of the fight about to happen.

Jack pulled a plastic can of what appeared to be normal paint from his pants pocket. The tall boy appeared as though he was about to grab the paint, but before anyone could tell what was going on, Jack opened the can, dipped his fingers in it, and with unbelievable agility, he painted what looked like a dripping red circle with a line and a G through it. It looked as though it was painted on some sort of transparent wall, but nothing was there.

"Another masterpiece," he mumbled. The muscular boy fell to the ground with a thump.

Once he closed the can, a deafeningly loud sound similar to that of a trumpet or violin came from the strange symbol. He was most likely the only one to not respond to it.

Without speaking another word, he walked over to the boy on the ground, got down on one knee, and with a can of bright green paint, he put a symbol on the boys forehead. He closed his eyes and a faint look of relief met Jack's face, as if he had finally eaten a meal after days of starvation. He breathed in deeply and sighed out heavily, motionless.

It was really, really weird.

Bex rose an eyebrow at the sight. she couldn't say she understood it, but she watched as the Administration workers walked up to the young man. she watched as the crowd dispersed. Jack would get out of trouble somehow. He always did. another siren rang. it was time for Power Development. she walked away from the scene, content with knowing nobody died.

Talynne slowly opened her eyes, squinting against the harsh light. She jerked awake, when she noticed a figure standing over her. It was a little boy, but there was something wrong with him. Something utterly... disturbing. He whispered to himself, tilting his head slightly as if to catch some hidden words.

She shuddered, a chill creeping up her spine.

She looked around, she was in a sterile environment. All white, pristine and nauseating. Where was she again? The Facility, gran had told her about. That was right. Her gaze wandered, observing the lack of people and movement especially the boy. She noticed movement from her peripherals and sprung to motion, standing on top of her bed. There was no one with her.

The boy was gone. Was she going crazy?

"Miss Talynne Jaxyn. Icelandic. Mother: Deceased. Father: Unknown. Condition: Coma. Haven't we healed fast?" A voice came from the walls. What the hell was this? She didnt sign up to be a rat in a cage, she growled to herself.

"Am I just supposed to sit back here for the rest of my stay? Or are you going to let me go?" Talynne yelled.

"You're quite free to leave, Miss Jaxyn. It's the dawn of a new day." The wall suddenly opened, and a more normal looking hospital room was revealled. An infirmary. It was dark outside, only moonlight streamed to highlight the mismatched buildings. "By the way your clothes and equipment have been left in bathroom. Good luck, Miss Jaxyn."

---

Trystan didn't think this was such a great idea anymore. This place was getting overrun with powerful, potentially dangerous people and with a total lack of discipline. How was he supposed to gain control of his powers here? In a place that didn't have control of its students. Bex had introduced him to that Jack kid yesterday. He was insane, he had a weird blank quality to him that made Trystan uncomfortable.

Beside that, Louis had gone to Bex room that afternoon and wrecked the joint. It was certain to say he'd made a powerful enemy, even if he was a bonehead. He was lost in his own musings, he had needed to leave the room. To get some air, clear his thoughts. He left Bex to her own devices, she was a strong girl.

He jumped when a cute girl tapped him on the shoulder.

Bex continued to sob uncontrollably. she was sure she was on the verge of some mental breakdown. Her breath came in short gasps as she looked at her computer for the millionth time that day.

it was utterly ruined. all fifteen computer towers demolished; turned into cybernetic wood chips. all of her HaloScreens were dead, being that Louis crushed their modem.

years of research gone.

the worst part was that she couldn't hear their voices. she had always heard the soft binary commands, or the automated links to the internet.

but now there was silence.
