Sven sighed - carefully, his ribs still hurt like a son-of-a-bitch - and finished tightening his belt. Then he bent down - also carefully - and tied his shoes.

He was finally going home.

Victoria was outside, waiting by the cab.

Gen bounced outside the room, waiting impatiently. She knocked once. "Almost done?" she asked, her impatience showing. She was ready to get him home and taken care of. And she really really wanted to kiss him, but she didn't know if that was a good idea in his current state.

Landon made his way out the front door, swinging on his crutches. He only had to use them for another week, but damn, they were annoying. "Hey," he grunted, seeing Victoria. "She's still waiting for him up there," he said, shaking his head.

Sven opened the hospital room door and saw Gen waiting for him. "How very considerate of you to see me home, m'lady."

"They're taking forever. I can't keep this cabby here the entire day." She stepped up to him and rested her hands lightly on his waist. "You ready to go home too?"

Gen bounced once and nodded her head. "Of course," she said brightly. She fidgited a moment before jumping forward and kissing his cheek before bouncing back into her place. "Ready to go?" she asked with a grin.

Landon laughed. "I've been ready to go home since I got here," he said.

Sven blinked a few times, touched his cheek, then grinned. "Come here," he sighed and cupped the back of her head and pulled her a little closer. "I tell you I love you and all I get is a kiss on the bloody cheek?"

"Good," Victoria said. "I've been round your place. Cleaned up a little. Threw out the stale milk, that kind of thing. Everything should be all right for you."

Genevieve giggled. "I didn't want to hurt you," she said. stretching up on her toes to give him a proper kiss. It sent fire through her body and she pulled away quickly. "You're not healthy enough for much else," she said with a wink.

Landon smiled. "Did you wanter my plants?"

Sven smirked but quickly winced when certain male parts of him tried to get too excited. Any kind of ... labour ... sent his tender chest into a cruel world of ache. "Okay, so maybe that wasn't a good idea ..."

Victoria wrinkled her nose. "They were already dead when I got there."

Gen frowned and lifted her hands as if to help him, but they dropped uselessly. "Sorry," she winced, taking half a step back. "Are you ready to go?" she wondered softly, hating that he seemed so...breakable now.

Landon laughed. "Yeah I know. I'm terrible at keeping plants alive. Why do you think I don't have a pet? I'm terrified I'll forget to feed it and come home to find it dead."

"Don't be sorry," Sven said seriously and placed a hand on her shoulder, half to comfort her and half to help keep him stead. "I'm not."

"I can't really see you with a pet," Victoria said, turning her face up to the warm sun.

Genevieve blushed. "Come on," she urged, gently curling an arm around him. "Victoria and Landon are waiting. Ladnon's been itching to get out of here for ages." She rolled her eyes. "The pooor baby got some stitches," she said sarcastically.

Landon smirked. "I can't see you with a pet either," he said, sticking his tongue out at her.

"Oh, what a trouper," Sven said sarcastically as he looped an arm around her waist and slowly headed for the exit. "How many stitches? Three?" He snorted.

"True. I've never even had a fish."

"Uh..." Genevieve thought. "Fifty-nine actually." She shrugged. "He skewered his leg when he got into that accident."

Landon smiled and shook his head. "Animal people we are not, it would seem."

That made Sven wince. "All right, so maybe he's not such a pansy." They finally reached the parking lot where he saw Victoria and Landon leaning up against a yellow cab. "How kind of you to wait," he said, only a little sarcastic.

Victoria shrugged. "I'm here for Landon, you arrogant bastard." She softened her words with the faintest of grins.

(Eugh. Excuse all the typos. I'm tired as hell.)

Genevieve rolled her eyes. "Play nice Sven," she said with a teasing lilt.

Landon scowled at Gen. "We're guys," he said. "We don't play nice."

Genevieve flipped him off. "And I still don't like you," she said brightly.

"Like I care?" Landon asked. "I have her," he said, looping an arm around Victoria.

"Good thing I'm not a lesbian or I would have her," she smirked.

Victoria turned and hid her smile in Landon's side. "That's lucky for you, Landon, cause I've always found Gen to be one hot piece of ass."

Sven went from sneering to blushing furiously in two seconds flat.

The very erotic image of Gen and Victoria engaged in some lady loving had popped unbidden into his mind and refused to budge.

"Stop that," Gen said, glaring at Sven. "I know what you're thinking. Stop it," She rolled her eyes. "I am not a lesbian and it is going to stay that way. I like men, thank you very much. You to be exact." She grinned. "God only knows why. You'reso vain."

Landon snorted. "Well, I will give her the hot ass, but the big mouth gets in the way," he shrugged, preparing for a punch from either woman.

"The dirty thoughts - not my fault. That's biology, babe," Sven told Gen. "And the vanity ... Well, look at me. It's certainly not false vanity ..."

Victoria snorted with laughter and pulled at Landon's arm. "Come on, I'm going to drive you home. Your car's just over there. You two have fun now."

Gen laughed. "No," she said. "No it's not." She brushed her hand over his cheek. "I said it once before, you're gorgeous."

Landon rolled his eyes and followed Victoria, trying not to laugh as he went.

Despite his bravado, Sven found he was blushing. "You really ... think so?" he asked.

Victoria tossed Landon's crutches into the back of the car and opened the passenger door for him. "He's a prick, isn't he?"

Genevieve tugged on the ends of her hair and smiled. "Yeah..." she said, shifting uncomfortably. "You're pretty freaking hot." She hesitated. "And I love your glasses," she said with a shrug.

Landon chortled. "A little bit," he said, sliding carefully into the passenger seat. He sighed as he took the weight off his wounded leg. "But I think he's a good guy."

Sven's hand automatically went up to adjust his glasses. "Really? I hate them ... " Holy hell. A woman as gorgeous as her thinks I'm hot? What did I do? Save a busload of kids in my previous life and this is karma evening things out? "Babe, let's not get into this, okay? 'Cause I don't have the vocabulary to tell you how hot I think you are, so ..." he shrugged.

Once she was behind the wheel of the car and had the engine started, Victoria said; "He is. You should have seen the way he threw himself in front of the Dog's gun to protect Gen ..."

Gen turned bright red and dipped her head. "Oh God," she moaned, covering her face. "Now my face matches my hair." Oh man, I'm going to burst into flames. I love it when he calls me babe...

Landon sighed. "In a weird way I wish I had been there," he admitted. "Instead of crashing my stupid car into a stupid tree," he glared at the vehicle. "I kind of wish it hadn't been repaired," he muttered.

"That it does," Sven grinned, pleased with her reaction. "You're very easy to rile up, you know. Just like me. I guess you and I'll have some interesting sex, huh?"

Victoria smiled as she drove through the city streets. "Trust me, you wouldn't want to be there." Her face lost some of its mirth as she remembered.

(No problem!)

Genevieve almost fell down as she helped him into the backseat of the cab. "Right," she said slowly. Then she sighed. "Not until you're better. But I'm going to take care of you," she said with a nod.

Landon glanced at her. "I'm sorry," he said. "I shouldn't have said that."

"Like ... take care of me, take care of me?" Sven asked, leaning gratefully back into the seat.

"It's fine," Victoria said a little stiffly. "I'm getting over it. I am."

Genevieve held off on answering until she was seated beside him. She leaned forward and rattled off her address to the driver. "Like take care of you, as in get you everything you need, keep you company, annoy the hell out of you, maybe help you shower..." she said, glancing at him to see his reaction.

Landon reached over and patted her knee gently. "We don't have to talk about any of it," he said.

Sven breathed in sharply.

"Shower?"

Then his chest contracted and he started coughing. That only made things worse. He clutched at his side where he could feel his two broken ribs screaming for him to sit the fuck still.

"Not a good idea," he winced.

Victoria only nodded and drove for a few minutes in silence. When they arrived at Landon's apartment, she found them a parking space and turned to him. She braced herself before saying; "I've got a bag of my things in the boot. I'd like to stay with you for a few days, if that's all right."

Gen bit her lip. "Sorry, sorry," she said quickly. "I have to stop doing that," she said, shaking her head. "If I'm not careful, I'll end up killing you," she said sadly. "I just wish you didn't hurt," she said. And I wish that I could take it away, but all I seem to be doing is adding more to it.

Landon flashed a smile. "I'd like that," he said.

"No ..." Sven shook his head and made his breathing even out. "No, don't stop. I love it, the way you tease me. Its one of my favourite things about you," he said honestly.

Victoria gave him a brief, grateful smile before jumping out of the car and retrieving his crutches. As she helped him up the few stairs to the lobby, she said; "I'm sorry we never went to visit your mother. Maybe, once you feel up to it, we can try again."
