Inanna walked underneath the gloomy boughs, eyeing out the shadows that flickered in the soft breeze. Anything could be hidden there, she knew, anything at all. Wee, nasty beasties had a habit of slinking in shadows.

She looked up, hoping for some glimpse of moonlight. No such luck though, only vaguely could she some stars through the dense foliage. She sighed, grip tightning on her sturdy staff, fingering the carved runes etched deep down its side. Something rustled, and she froze, careful to keep her breathing quiet as well. Straining, she peered out through the for something, anything.

Biting her lip, Inanna wondered if it had been nothing, but the hair prickling at the back of her neck told her otherwise.

Fool, Inanna told herself, raising her staff up and letting a small pulse of Source flow out. She felt it echo, bounce across tree limb and trunk, until the familiar tang of something humanoid touched her senses.

It-he was almost right behind.

'As I know you.' she replied cooly, lowering her staff to grip it with both hands 'What do you want with me?'

She hit the ground hard, rolling instinctively into a crouch she glared up at the emerging figure before her.

'Chivalry is truely dead.' she muttered to herself as she awaited the next attack.

Closer, closer, Inanna mentally urged him, and with one-more-step she SWUNG out with her staff, aiming to swipe his feet out from beneath him.

She cursed again as the hand that held her weapon held fast. Sending her own glare at the stranger, Inanna braced her feet and WRENCHED her staff free, spinning it in one motion, she struck forward using the reverse end with the deadly intent to smash in his face.

'What-'

Inanna swung around, searching frantically for her opponent. How could he simply dissapear? It was near impossible! Her eyes darted too and fro, staff held out defensively and ready.

((hey, no offense intended, but can you offer a little bit more then blank one liners? I need to have a bit of an idea of whats actually happening with your character.))

'So you finally deign to speak with me, Master Shadow?' Inanna replied coldly.

'Inanna of Uruk.' she finally replied stiffly, but she did not relax her stance. She did not trust this 'Hanapu.'

What did he mean, though? How could he have knowledge of her? Or he simply trying to unnerve her? She all but scowled.

'Indeed? I am afraid I have not heard of you or your kind.'

'How do you know me?'

'Do your worst Demon!' She snarled defiantly.

'YARR!' and she sprung up to meet the Demon, sweeping her staff up in a furious arc.

Inanna smirked, her hand flashed back.

'How nice.' she commented, as the gleam of her now free iron belt dagger dove upwards towards Hanapu's eyes.

His skull broke through the skin of his forhead, forming a helmet.

Her whole arm shuddered as the knife bounced off bone.

Deciding close combate was not the way, Inanna twisted up her body, planted her feet on the Demons chest for propulsion and lunged away, dragging her precious staff along with her.

The bone receded back into his skull. "Silly."

'Is that so, Master Demon?' A wry half smile twists her lips as she stands 'How about you actually fight instead of letting me do all the hard work, then?'

Yelping, Inanna struggled against the strangling hold those deathly hands had upon her. She tried to scream, but it was swallowed up by the darkness. It was hopeless, she was finished.

Concentrate, rebuked a voice in her head, are you a Seid or aren't you?

Grimly, she felt the Source at her heart, pulsing with life and fire, aching to be free. Her staff was lost, but she herself could become vessel. The breath was sucked from Inanna's lungs as she opened her body to the power called the Source.

It burst free, with Inanna at its center as both its vessel and channeler. Snaking through the darkness, it tore away the black veil and she entered again the light. Source crackled about her body as she turned back to meet the Demon.

'It is time, Hanapu...' and her voice throbbed with Source and power '...to meet your maker.'

"So this is the magic called the source. I have heard much of it." Hanapu's expressition still didn't change. "I have no maker. I just exsist."

She reached out a hand and called for her faithful staff, and it answered, coming to hand eagerly.

'I think you'll find we each have a maker, Demon, from whose dark depths we came-'

With that she sprang again, natural speed enhanced by the Source running through her, swinging her staff up to punch in Hanapu's throat.

Instinct kicked in and she slammed her staff back into the ground, protecting her gut as his scaly tail came around. The force of impact shook Inanna to the bone.

But he had left his back open. With clenched teeth, she leapt onto his back, hooking her staff around and under his chin in an attempt to strangle him.
