Konig15Topic: Potential Story Idea: Want Mature themes ahead!
Here's my supernatural idea (it's based off the Stand): There's a plague unleashed on mankind, and it's wiping out civilization. It's called the Want, because as people die they mutter 'I want, I want,' and it takes about three weeks for my protagonist to understand why. Two buddies, Christopher Merriweather and Victor Caen are roommates, and they both come down with the virus. Vic, the gun nut, nearly dies, and mutters the 'I want' chant, and when he wakes up there's an AK, an MP-44, grenades, plenty of ammo, and in his parking spot is a 69 red GTO. With no engine or gas tank, and it starts anyway. It's just what Vic wanted. Chris panics as he succumbs and begs God for death lest his want come true. And he wakes up as Charlotte Merriweather. The trick is that the Want will grant whatever you wish and spare you to boot, if you truly want something more than life. So what happens when the darkest or sometimes most whimsical wishes of men and women come true? Well, it means that the old can become young, the stupid smart, creatures will walk the earth, some that did before, some that never have, and very evil people are now very powerful and are planning their assault on what is left of civilization. And guess what our hero-**-heroine has to do? Between maintaining her sanity, finding her family, surviving the elements, natural and non, and getting her bud to see her as a woman and not ** up the friendship in the process, Charlotte's going to need all the help she can get. She's all tricked out with nerd girl skill, and some gun skills from Vic, but it's a very dangerous world, especially as they head west where civilization is already gone, where a new threat is arising. Yes, it is something of a Stand rip-off. I'm more concerned about getting flack for having a transsexual heroine. But if that unnerves people, the premise that it might be possible to be granted our most secret desires regardless of what they are, should unnerve them anyway. Tell me what you think! |
