Topic: In Our Element

This is the Forum for the Four *cough* Mods! *cough* who are collaberating on a big work of fiction, just for planning it, talking about it and such. and so we dont scare people off the areana with the massive post count... lol

Okay let me summarize what I've suggested so far.

It's a story about four apprentice magicians, studying in XXX academy. Each of them are fond with a certain element - Soul's Fire, Kid's Ice, and Lycan's Earth; as for me, I have no idea (however, if you don't feel comfortable with the element you can change to any of those which you're familiar with).

Then the story goes on about how the 'four friends' are being accepted by the school, and begins their practices regarding elemental.

From that point onwards, we can do a typical, fantasy story with plot such as : evil arises, and the magicians are threatened. They are needed to protect the world from its doom. - This is just a basic example; but I don't really think it's such a good idea. The better one I'd prefer will be the one below.

We can do a humor/fantasy/daily-life of the teenagers in the academy; how does their life have changed when they joined the school, how does they communicate with the others, how does their exams go on...It's highly focused on individual, and we perhaps can separate each chapter for any one of us individually; or we will write them in paragraphs, taking turns.

In regard of those magic, I suggest fusing elements in order to give rise to more potential magic - just like what I thought about the water/gravity hybrid which I posted in the water magic section (I don't know it looks and sounds impressive, or not).

This is just an idea I've got since I cannot practically describe the magic academy's life in details for one of my story, since the main aim for the story isn't the magic school itself. Since I don't feel like wasting such a good idea (that's what I think), so I am to suggest and sharing it with you guys! *yay*

So tell me what you think about it, and any suggestion to further modifying the story; or any new ideas which can bring live to another story.

We could use both ideas with a twist, why not have one of us become the "arising evil"? and i think we should each do a chapter each from our charecters point of view. and yes, i will be Fire =)

We shouldn't know right away, in the story, that your character is the rising evil though. Just thought I'd throw that into here. And I heard from one of my friends that electricity was in the same category as fire as far as classic elements go.

Okay, yeh I know if I'm the bad guy I can't be the evil since the starting of the story! LOL.

But I'm thinking...The story will be more appropriate with 1st person or 3rd person narration? I prefer 1st person since it goes more in-depth with inner thoughts & feelings of a character, and since we're doing in each of our own ways.

Hand raises for 1st person view!

I'm all for first person, it only makes sense to me. I suppose that I want to branch out in the story to steam and water as well as ice if that's okay with you guys. I'll be the disorderly group member if that's cool too. Kdh.

They both have good traits and you have plenty of attacks in each but I would have to say air because you have sound, pure wind attacks, and tubesocks. As to the one of us thing, have you ever seen the movie "Freaks"?

Then I'll adapt a character with air as an element (because I want to try it out). As for the movie, no, I have never seen it but I have heard of it.

It'll be an experience for me with my H2O based character as well, I don't do a lot of purely elemental characters. Good or bad hearsay on the movie? Do you think we should include non elemental characters in our story? Kdh.

What's a para-elemental? Partial elemental or something? lol...

Yeh of course we can branch them out - I mean, we can have our characters mastering the basic element and utilizing its similar element; or having them learning more than one elements - i.e fire, ice, lightning.

It'll encourages the ideas of hybrid magic, which will certainly squeeze our brain in order to develop some nice, impressive one. So, why not? lol...

Air element; An invisible slap or smack onto someone you don't find yourself comfortable with! XD It's funny just by thinking about it.

as to the poitn stated earlyer, Fire is actualy Plasma, its the most common form of it, and rou are right, lighting is also a common form of plasma so in essence they are one and the same, but when i say thuner i genral mean electrisity not just lightning bolts, but they are fun as well =) and sure why not go for hybrid elements later on.

im not asking for hoards of reviews or whatever, but if u guys want some ideas of elemental moves and such read the latest few chapers of my NaNoWriMo Angels of the Past, it starts at Raizen, then Enryu, then Chigo (Thunder, Fire then Earth) Shipatou will be up tomorro (Air) then Aquata (Guess... lol) and then finaly Heletos (Light) im just saying see if it gives u some ideas =)

Hmm where did you get the references for your magic? I think they're from some Japanese terms since they sound pretty familar me - I'm quite an anime freak, if you'd like to put it that way, lol.

If that's the case, I don't think it's a good idea. Readers will think the idea isn't original.

if u can tell me where they are from id be impressed lol. made Aquata up (duh!) myself lol. and Heletos and Tazarkul. but the rest of them are actully names of elemental weapons from the game Onimusha =) and id ont care if they dont think its orgional =)

and the moves themself are just geanlly made up in my head/apadapted from things i've seen in games. woo go me.

"Stealing from one person is PLaugerism, stealing from many is Reaserch" so as you can see, im doing nothing wrong XD lol

Soki's cool. and i acctuly based my charecters elemental tranformation on the Oni Awakening =) but i still have to go with Tenkai + Fudo = Pure Ownage. fudo is a 9 hit combo with an attack wave lol. it owns everything.

Have you been reading my page Soul? Anyway, I like what L3G3nD suggested in having 2 rival schools compete in an arena-like setting as well. Neat fire attacks Soul. I got some awesome ideas for my H2O based character. Kdh.

i love fire *bounces* and yes, i read all of yur pages when i was sending that pm out becuase i had to wait 2 min inbetween each one. and im kind of lacking in the water department... lemme show you the lastest bit of my chapter. its bascily the dude showing off =)

He smiled and was suddenly completely engulfed in flame, then rose into the air a few feet. The clouds above started to rumble and turn dark, a gale leapt up around them encasing the two souls in a hailstorm of dust and debris and then the ground began to swirl in the opposite direction, just like water down a whole. Pillars of ice began to sprout up into the air and eventually formed a crystal which encased Tazarkul.

The Sky rumbled again and a huge bolt of lightning forked downwards and hit the tip of the crystal. It shattered and exploded outwards and as it fell a huge wave of heat rolled out, turning the deadly shards to harmless drops of water.

The water stopped falling and pulled into a large ball. The ball hovered above Tazarkul’s head and then fell to his arm, turning to ice once more. He raised the shield and from the other hand sprouted a sword of fire.

Earth coiled up around his legs and hardened forming a solid impenetrable surface, then the lightning stuck again this time it hit Tazarkul Square in the chest were it began to buzz and resonate around his body. The air around his head started to shimmer and swirl in a small gale of air.

He looked straight at the angel and then roared out. A giant shockwave burst from his body and took the power of the elements with it, destroying everything it touched.

So are you going to do a fire/lightening based character? I myself am focusing on liquid/ice/steam based character and I'll put him up on our story's character page later tonight. Nice story excerpt. ^-^ Kdh.

Liqud/ice/steam? you mean water/ice/steam? and thats just a combination of air and water surly? and thanks =) im over the 25'000 mark now so im well on track to hitting the 50'000 i need by December

I like to think of it as a balance that leans more towards liquid. Yes I mean liquid because I have ideas as water being the base. Chemicals, poisons, medicines, acid, ect are all liquids and there for the taking. Kdh.

They're more variations though with the stronger attacks being water based but with the added benefits of being able to use other liquids. Too much?

Its not too much, its just Differnt lol thats all. when people think of "Element" they Think Fire, Water, Earth, Air Ect. (and in my case, Thunder, Light and Darkness as well.) but try it and see how it goes.

Good point but liquids could be said to be a branch of water based techniques much like gems could be with earth or sound with air.

i agree that Liquds and water yea, but contol of ice as well as contol of air as well? i know Ice is a water thing too but if ur going to be able to control "Liquds" then it shoulnt count towards ice.

Point taken but now that you say that I think I'll make water and liquids a secondary ability, steam a third, and first and foremost now will be ice. It goes with the name I'm thinking up. Kdh.

We should get back to planning this story lol. we have a genral idea, but i think we should foscus on the begging. are the elemental powers a hidden thing? or is it a well known thing in the world? an other stuffs.

I think elemental powers should be well known and even tied into everyday life in our world along with other types of magic. Not everyone should have powers but how about 40% of the pop. has powers to some degree. ?
