Author has written 34 stories for General, General, Life, Friendship, Love, Romance, and Supernatural. 27 going on 9 (or at least I wish) To all of those acting like jerks because their favorite authors are taking down all of their stories: I understand that you're upset that the authors have removed the stories that you feel you are entitled to read, seeing as they've been posted on the site for many years. I understand that you will miss them, that they were like old friends, and that you are upset you will not have access to them anymore. It sucks. That said, I am sick of seeing some of these authors receive emails or have comments left on their websites calling all of us "female douches" for removing our work. Personally, I don't care what you think of me for taking my stories down. IT IS MY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO DO EXACTLY WHAT I WANT WITH IT. I don't have to justify it to anyone but myself. The same goes for the other authors, and especially the ones that are being abused by these selfish little kids who think they are entitled. Those selfish little kids -- and I'm not restricting this to an age limit, because a 25-year-old can be more immature than an 18-year-old at times -- are taking out their frustration where it doesn't belong. On the people who were already victimized. Does the fact that we took down our stories and moved them to a private site mean we think we're awesome? No. It means that FP has refused to deal with plagiarism issues. It means that regardless of how wonderful or how awful our work is, it's still ours. It has nothing to do with being special or thinking we write amazingly individual stories that are clearly the best and need to be locked away. It has everything to do with a bunch of entitled children who think that claiming someone else's work as their own is A-OKAY. And that there shouldn't be a penalty for it. Unfortunately, there is, and it's the loyal people who have had to suffer. For all of those of you who say, "it's the internet. deal with it," I say all the more reason to take it the hell off. If I expect someone to steal my work because it's already happened in the past, why on earth would I leave it up or continue posting it? Whether it's the internet or not, the people who plagiarized had no right, AND YOU CANNOT JUSTIFY THEIR STEALING. In any way, shape, or form. Leaving it up online is like hanging a "Rob me" sign on an unattended convenience store. You are more than welcome to do that with your own intellectual property; I say: no, thanks. And you know who you are: The definition of "coward" is: a person who lacks courage in facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, etc. Take some responsibility for your actions and say it to my face and own up to it. The fact that you had to leave it anonymously means you know you're wrong. That is EXACTLY the definition of a coward. So tell yourself what you like, sweetie, but the rest of us know the truth. | |||||||||
