Perhaps I was born kneeling,
born coughing on the long winter,
born expecting the kiss of mercy,
born with a passion for quickness
and yet, as things progressed,
I learned early about the stockade
or taken out, the fume of the enema.
By two or three I learned not to kneel,
not to expect, to plant my fires underground
where none but the dolls, perfect and awful,
could be whispered to or laid down to die.

Now that I have written many words,
and let out so many loves, for so many,
and been altogether what I always was—
a woman of excess, of zeal and greed,
I find the effort useless.

Do I not look in the mirror,
these days,
and see a drunken rat avert her eyes?
Do I not feel the hunger so acutely
that I would rather die than look
into its face?
I kneel once more,
in case mercy should come
in the nick of time.

-- 09.02.05 -- 11:46 PM -- the end is always inspiring --

I just posted a new poem, eleven weeks. Kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing.

As always, reviews are greatly appreciated.

-- 08.28.05 -- 1:33 AM -- back in the swing of things (i hope) --

Alright, posted another piece, needed to feel. Not based on anyone or anything real, I'm afraid. That always seems to make things a bit more interesting. But that's what the imagination is for.

Also did a bit of polishing up. Trashed some older, naive (a.k.a. absolutely terrible!) pieces, and polished the few older pieces that I liked.

Thank you for your reviews. They're always appreciated!

-- 08.26.05 -- 12:43 AM -- renewal --

Well, it's been a while, hasn't it? Went through a little bit of writer's block. ...okay, a lotta bit. I finally discarded the idea that any bit of writing (even if it wasn't written yet...simply just an idea in my head) that wasn't phenomenal was absolute trash. I think I've finally realized that writing - whether simple or florid - can be excellent nontheless. So from now on...no thinking, just writing.

So I've decided to make my comeback to fictionpress with a slight change of pace.

The piece I postedis something that I've had buried in my hard drive for a while. Someone told me a while ago -- "Write what you know." So I did. It was one huge file that I just kept adding on to. I decided to disect it and extract the few bits of good writing that I could find, and named it diana. Some of you may understand, some of you may not.

I've also posted a short monologe, thinkfeelbreathe, which I was forced to write to submit to my school's literary magazine. Surprisingly, it turned out to be better than I thought.

Hope you enjoy. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Unlike my other Diana pieces, this is not based on anything or anyone real. Simply a guilty pleasure...I'm afraid it's a bit cheesy, but extremely satisfying for the typical angsty romantic.
