There was a stunned silence, broken only by the sound of the motorcycle engines, the squawking of the Rotisserie Chickens, the sudden pouring of rain, and a strange homeless man standing on the kerb dressed in drag and singing Elmo's Chicken Dance at the top of his lungs.
Alright, so it wasn't so silent. But it was stunned.
