Mark of Thorn: Book of Scars is going through an edit right now. Everything is still posted as it was, but I'm going through and making a few changes, which I likely won't post until it's all done. Basically all I'm doing is changing the way Diego talks throughout and working on a few sections near the end that I'm not happy with. So, if anyone is reading that story, know that the next version will be a bit better in some places, but you might have to wait a bit for it, so, the choice is yours.

I went off on a bit of a tangent yesterday (obviously, for those of you who read it) But I've decided to take it away. However, I haven’t changed my mind about how I feel concerning its subject: reviews. I did hope it would get myself a bit of attention, though I hope I haven’t made anyone angry.

So far, I haven’t gotten any negative feedback, thank goodness, but I do want to thank everyone who has responded. Everyone who has has offered me something to think about. Quite honestly, the very thought that the blasted thing was posted is interfering with my work. I can't stop thinking about people getting mad long enough to finish a chapter. I broke a rule of mine, which was to not allow the representation of myself to get in front of how my work represents itself. I don't like the idea that an author has to sell him/herself in order to sell a book (figuratively speaking, since obviously I'm not seeing any money for any of this). But feelings toward the person behind the story does influence things. I suppose I'd rather do without than for people to stop reading because they think I'm a snob.

Just to be clear (as a shortened version of my lovely rant, for those who didn't read it), I’m not asking everyone to review every chapter. I’m not asking for a certain number of reviews for every chapter. No no. I can appreciate your right to review as you see fit. I’m just asking, at least when a story is done, could you take ten seconds of your time to say “thank you for writing this”? That’s all I really want, you know. Acknowledgment from a person who read the story. You don’t have to go all around the world praising it or analyzing it or anything of that sort. But I took time to write it, you took time to read it, so why not?

I'm finally getting back to work - well, a bit more actively as far as you ladies and gentlemen are concerned. I started to work on Book of Beauty again, because if I can't finish that one, then I'll never finish the series. But I'm determined to do that...you know, before I die, at least.

I wanted to post Needle's Eye again, but I have to say, it's second half is in a bit of a mess right now, so I could only post until I hit the mess. hehe I might do that. In fact, it might push me to work on the rest (because at this point I get tired simply by looking at the amount of work it needs). But I'm happy to announce that the backstory plot has gotten a bit longer, several new parts are being added for your horrific enjoyment, and a new longer ending has been planned. And truth be told, I need a few people to try it out on - so that I'll know whether or not I ruined it from its original state. At this point in what I've done, I'd certainly say it's better. But that's from the writer's perspective.

Hmm...what else...? I guess that's about it.

For those of you who haven't looked, and are interested, I have a few drawings of some of my story characters posted here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v688/Dollylocks/

Profile:

If you've ever thought fairytale heroines were too meek, too afraid to get their hands bloody; if you've ever thought their handsome princes weren't rightfully cruel or self-centered; if you were ever afraid of the sorcerer, the step-mother, the witch, or the wolf, then you've come to the right place. I’ll wave my pen and change these things for you. And I’ll scare you all over again.

Here, you will find a collection of extended, rewritten fairytales, planned according to my own wicked tastes, spanning across the Horror/Dark Fantasy/Romance genres, and there is always a dash of Mystery. They’re certainly for mature minds. Along these journeys you will come across descriptions of violence, gore, and many sexual situations. Sometimes it is graphic. Other times it is not.

So far in my stories, this is what you will not find: You will not find same gender sex or relationships (this is, so far, and because of my own personal liking), no bestiality (though be warned that I do push the envelope with enchanted creatures, but only humanoid ones. Consider that to be what you will). You will not find graphic pedophilic situations( though there is mention of such things at times).

You will find things like murder, rape, incest, cannibalism, and those are just a few of the things. But really, it’s not much different than what the true fairytales were actually about. Mine are just a bit more straightforward with it. hehe

I don’t like to hold myself back, so if I have an idea that I think will make a reader cringe, gasp, or stare in disbelief, it’s a pretty sure bet that it’s going to end up on the screen before you. My work is, perhaps, an acquired taste. But if you’re like me – a lover of the dark and twisted, imperfect romances, and fairy tales – then you’re sure to feel right at home here.

But don’t get me wrong. There are also lessons, morals, and principles in my writing, but feel free to choose your own focus. Like the romance? Great. Love the blood? Great as well. Like it all? Well, then I just love you! ;)

Also, just so you know, there may be misspellings and so forth, but I can promise you some decent writing here. Some of the older stories need to be cleaned up a bit, but most are at ‘good enough’ status, as far as I'm concerned. Just for the record, there are a couple that I’m not too proud of. The Nutcracker Bleeds is certainly my best because it's the newest (that's completed), but I rewrote my Cinderella tale and am very proud of it now.

What do I recommend? Well, if you want something only a little bit twisted, start with Jack and Jill. Graduate to Roses and Black Glass. Need something better? Skip through the haunted woods and over the fanfiction.net (under same name) to see Behind Sanity, my Alice in Wonderland/American McGee’s Alice fanfiction. Think you can handle it all? The Nutcracker Bleeds is where you want to be. (It's certainly my favorite)

Yes, you may contact me through email, I love to receive feedback. Thanks for reading, and please do review no matter how old the story is!

Lani Lenore ~
