Welcome :)
About Me: I am a twenty-one yr old female and I live in Toronto, Ontario. I am in my fourth year of university and I will, with luck, become a teacher. Now that I have said that, you've probably figured out that I don't plan on being a professional author or anything like that. Writing is my hobby and a hobby that has been railroaded by school work unfortunately.
I love reading. I have since I was in grade four. I cannot begin to list my favourite books and authors because there are just too many to count and I always fall in and out of love with books (and then usually in again!).
Hm.. let's go to television and the silver screen. For television, I like Dead Like Me, Veronica Mars, Dexter, Kitchen Nightmares (I love Chef Gordon Ramsay). For movies, I enjoyed Fight Club, Freedom Writers, Four Brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Smith but my absolute favourite movie, without a doubt, would simply have to be Deep Blue Sea. Why you ask? One word. Sharks.
My Love Affair:
Okay, bear with me, I am going to ramble on about my love affair with sharks now. My favourite animal is the shark, but more specifically the great white shark. Tiger sharks are cool, too, but they just can't compare with my great whites. (Wolves are my second favourite animals.) I love sharks because if it weren't for stupid mankind, they would rule the waters. People normally fear sharks because of some inane belief that they are man-eaters. They aren't. Sharks actually don't like the taste of human meat. We don't taste very good. the reason sharks attack humans is because they mistake us for seals. Once they realize we aren't seals, they will normally let go(and if they don't, go for their eyes). Actually to be honest more people die annually from coconuts than they do from sharks. When you see a coconut, do you go running and screaming? Didn't think so. Humans kill sharks far more so if a shark does kills a human... they are only evening out the odds a bit. And recently they think great whites hunt in packs which would make them even more intelligent than they already were. They emanate power, ruthlessness and grace and I love them for it. Okay, enough about them. I doubt you care anyway.
So as I have no doubt just proven, I am like a selective sponge who will absorb vast amount of knowledge but only with things that interest me, mostly useless things. It all goes into my stories.
My Stories:
The longer stories I have up are in my Blood Series. It started with Vials of Blood and became a series I had not intended on writing. I warn you know, Vials of Blood needs to be edited and rewritten and one day when I have time, I'll get to that. It was followed by Blood Red Roses and Blood-Streaked. I think Blood-Streaked is the best ;) Here is where it gets complicated. There is a fourth that continues in this series, Tears of Blood, but it's on hiatus. It may be on hiatus permanently. I've hit a major case of I-don't-want-to-write-this-story and now am considering the following[1 leaving it alone and one day the rest will come to me [2 scrap the story and rewrite it, getting rid of all the things that are bugging me about it now or [3 scrap it and leave the Blood series as a trilogy. My deepest, most sincerest apologies to those who have been following along. The stories in the series all have a crime-related theme. Murder and romance seems to clash so well together.
I now have many short stories. Most are inspired by songs like My Favourite Mistake I am told is cute, sweet and witty. I'm glad because that was what I was aiming for. Others include Didn't Say You Were Sorry, Goodbye My Lover, and Addicted. There may be more but I can't remember them off the top of my head. Others short stories are my "I wonder what would happen if"s and some I have actually written for assignments.
As many who actually read my work will notice I have the tendency to ply readers with short stories to make up if I haven't been forthcoming with a chapter of the current novel.
Coming Next: I have a Secret Santa short story that I have not titled yet, but look out for that. If we can have Christmas in July, we can have Christmas in March.
Note To My Readers:
I'm going to thank everyone who has read my stories and reviewed. I hope you enjoy them. I'd like to thank everyone who has me on my favourites' lists or author alerts. You all make me feel so happy. Special thanks to Anne because I love you and you need to write more ;)
Yours Truly,
Sandy :)
