And that's all the news that's fit to print, compadres. When you write fiction or compose poems you offer your psychology on a plate to anyone who reads them anyway, so all my perceptions of life are pretty obvious if you glance at the writings. I'm a left-winger libertarian and a catholic-raised agnostic,a self-confessed music geek and traveller of the path of constant distraction....draw your own conclusions.
My sjottings are usually socio-political, and often mad as hell, but hopefully deeper than your everyday 'Fuck the government' rantings. Also, if I seem a nitpicker in my reviews, well, the way I sees it- it's nice to recieve rhapsodies and compliments, but only way to grow as a writer (NEVER call yourself an 'artist'- for therein lies pretentiousness) is to be scrutinized for your faults and to conquer them, evolvingyour styleif you will. Besides, you don't pay me be nice. In fact, you don't pay me at all! HA!
I've put my scribblings on the back-burner for well over a year now to concentrate on the little distractions like this 'life' business everyone tells me about. Looking back over my old shit, I realised one day how stilted, bitter and psychologically 'interesting' it was, so I decided to bow out and come back to writing once I gained more life experience. Basically, I've been exercising Thoreau's old maxim about not sitting down to write until I've stood up to live. 16 or so months later, after living through a carnival of changes, disasters and buckets of bullshit, here I am. Older and more experienced. Wiser? Doubtful, but we all get there eventually.
Currently working on: The Curse of Twenty Seven, a collection of stories of disaster and disintegration set in my home town today. Bit like a scouse 'Dubliners'. Not gonna post them till I'm happy with ALL of them, so it'll be a while...
Enjoy. or don't and be constructively critical. It's the only way i'll learn.
Good luck and long-life to you all..and congratulations if you're still reading this.
