Author has written 1 story for Fantasy.
I've stuck with Sonic since SatAM first aired. Though I've thought about writing other things, I can't leave it alone. Sonic, Sally, Bunnie, and the rest of them are just too compelling. I mean, I have recently started writing more SegaSonic stuff, and I posted my first non-fanfic story recently, but my heart is with SatAM. Can you tell me how I'm doing? I'd really like that...

Below I'll post my thoughts on my stories, on the characters, and so forth. This is just for my own satisfaction really, but you might like it. Be warned I'll probably give a lot of stuff away in them.

Year's End: This was the first fanfic I'd written in a while. It heavily used two characters I'd never written for before: Tails and Rosie. Whenever I'd used Tails before, he served mostly to bring out Sonic's character, nothing more. I wanted to use them for something constructive.
I really dislike Earth-bound references in Sonic stuff, so I wanted to come up with something original. Yet it can't be completely alien because Mobius is so like Earth. The ritual the Mobians do betrays some of my influences. It combines aspects of the Japanese philosophy of New Year's and the Catholic confessional. Yet at the same time it reflects the heavy community-based society I've thought of Mobius having. It was a pretty satisfying write, actually.

The Envoy: I had two thoughts going into this. First: the 'stranger comes to Knothole' bit is really old-- what can I do to totally mess it up? Second: how would Sally react if she lost Sonic's support? It is clear to me that, whether or not they have any feelings of romantic love as we think of it, Sonic and Sally are totally dependant upon one another. How would Sally cope if that support was knocked out from under her?
This is the first fanfiction, ever, that I've allowed myself to use profanity. I don't curse myself, either. Why, then, did I do it? Well, it seemed in-character, to be honest. I hesitated a lot, but felt ultimately that it was the right thing. It helps to emphasize the stranger-ness of Sophia. Noone in Knothole curses; her usage of profanity helps set her apart. And, given her situation, I believe I can tolerate a little rage and exhaustion from her, neh?

The Price of Trust: This storybegan with an image-- that of Sally's interrogation. I began writing to set that up, and subplots just began hurling themselves into the story. I'd always wanted to do something involving the Great War, so the remnants of that war seemed like a good place to start. The Cabal soldiers came out of that, and I started to see all the sorts of cool things I could do with them.
At first I wanted Sonic to have to deal with a love interest-- like Amy, but serious and age-appropriate. It turned out to be a very different relationship between Dirla and Sonic. To be honest, I'm happier the way it turned out. This is easily my longest fic, almost twice the length of my others. Still, it was fun to write, and I did a bunch of things I'd never done before. The double plot was tricky but cool, and it has the biggest cast I've ever used.
Ultimately, though, my favorite part about this story is Sonic and Sally. They're so ALIVE, it's a joy to write for them, no matter what situation they're in.

The Negotiation: this was my first attempt at SegaSonic writing. It's proven very different from SatAM Sonic writing. Though this is short, it was really fun to write-- Rouge is a wonderful character to write for! I think that most fanfic authors avoid using her because they really don't know what to do with her. It's just like Sally: they're females with VERY strong personalities that can dominate stories. In a way, many authors seem almost afraid of her. To me, she's just really fun to write for! The story itself is something of a throwaway; it's essentially a vehicle for Rouge to waltz in and chew scenery.

The Difference a Day Makes: This is me at the peak of my powers as an author. In my opinion, my best story by far. I actually drove myself to tears writing this. There's not much more I can say... but I don't think I'll ever write something like that again.

Shadow, Falling: I must admit this was something of a prank. As I point out in my author’s remarks for that story, I was sick and tired of “Shadow survived” stories because of the utter impossibility of anything organic surviving those circumstances. So, instead of a “Shadow survives” story, I wrote a “Shadow dies” story in as much detail as I could muster. My sci-fi background really helped me here, and I was able to put the exact mechanics with (I think) a pretty good amount of precision.
Now that I look back at it, though, I underplayed part of it. In the beginning part, I wanted to show that Shadow was happy with death; in fact, that he wanted to die at that point. You see, you have to remember that Sonic is from Japan. In Japan, they don’t think of suicide the way we do here; suicide is a kind of moral purging. It’s a way to compensate for the faults of your life. Thusly, Shadow allowing himself to die was his penance for putting the world in such danger and fouling Maria’s wish by doing so. He WANTS to die. As such, Shadow’s death is both scientifically and logically irrefutable.
As I said, I don’t think I went into this as much as it deserved. But the fic accomplished its purpose and was, perversely, fun to write.
1. A Lesson on Spite reviews
A mage flees from a summoned monster. But, even as death approaches, he still has a thing or two to teach his old rival. My first attempt at non-fan-fiction!
