Author has written 20 stories for Humor, Young Adult, General, Fantasy, Historical, Supernatural, Mystery, School, Life, Romance, War, Religion, Love, and Friendship.

It's about time I redid this profile thing.

My name's Hannah, I'm 18 years old (at the time of writing) and I'm in Year 13 at school in England. To those of you who are American (that seems to be the majority of you on this site) that's the last year of school, two years into "6th form" (ie non-compulsory education, yes I know, what am I still doing at school lol) etc. And at least 3 people have, for some reason, thought I was Australian. But I digress.

I like writing stories. No ____ sherlock, I hear you cry (censored in case kiddies read this, or if you don't like profanity). I've been writing since I was about 5 or 6, though those little stories would be laughably bad by adult standards. Still, years of writing have meant that I have improved considerably, and am still improving. Some of my writings on here are a bit rough around the edges, but bear in mind that most of them are dated a few years ago, and I thought they were ok at the time.

When writing, I like to explore the personality of my characters, especially my main one. I normally write in first person, but there are exceptions. I also often write extracts of the main events. All this means that sometimes I get so carried away with stuff like that that I forget to write the actual story. Sometimes I skimp on details, especially if I'm writing a bit that I'm not dead keen on. Of course, I know that I should have fun writing it, or why would people have fun reading it? That doesn't mean to say I don't get writer's block.

"Better to write for yourself and have no public, than write for the public and have no self." Cyril Connolly.

I'd like to think that my spelling's good, and my grammar of a good enough standard to read it without you being confused. Although sometimes- but only in the dialogue- I write phonetically to make it sound more authentic. Spelling is important, and while I might forgive you for spelling one difficult word wrong, I get fed up with people who really can't spell when writing a story. Not mentioning any names, Zoe.

I have a few favourite books and writers, but I can't be ar- bothered to list them all here. JK Rowling, though, has been an inspiration. Yes, I know, you've heard that one before. Nonetheless, she is a living example that the sky's the limit. Secondly, a few quotes for you, which might be paraphrased as I can't remember them properly:

"Go out and live life, and you'll have more to write about." Anthony Horowitz.

"(He) doesn't want to get a life, because he feels as if he's already leading three." Terry Pratchett.

How I love the contradiction...

Oh, and I've signed up for season 4 of the ficathon. If you want to sign up (next time, 'cos we're at the writing stage ATM) go to http://community.livejournal.com/of_ficathon.
