Hi! I'm taking Creative Writing at school, so I should actually have stuff to post...
Story Status/ Explanations
Akui High: School of Magic- Most likely dead...
There Once was a Grinch from Nantucket- I might update sometime in the unforseeable future... One day while my class was doing Secret Santa I realized that I'd forgotten Trevor's present. Therefore I wrote him a little poem.
The British Goat Society- Complete! Done for English class. Basically we had to B.S. our way through a topic we new nothing about. The more outlandish the essay, the better.
Material Girl-Complete! Done for English class. We had to write a personal essay in the style of Joan Didion. I chose to write about the main thing I use for one of my favorite hobbies.
Marbles- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. To make a long story short, Mr. Haskett threw a marble at everyone in the class and told us to write whatever we wanted as long as it had something to do with marbles.
Colors- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. We all put together a list of eleven colors and another list of eleven action verbs and we were supposed to write a poem using at least ahlf of each list.
Alamo the Korean Armadillo- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. I got assigned to write about this stuffed animal armadillo and this is what I came up with. I ended up including a lot of allusions to children's stories and Dr. Suess. There's also a reference to the Mary Poppins musical, although I don't think most people will get it. Only one person in class got the Alamo joke, too. I ended up refraining from the Wizard of Oz reference, but I kept the dance number.
Paramnesia- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. We had to write a poem while listening to Code Indigo's "A Question of Answers." This is what I came up with. I love the title. It has two meanings. One is the inability to remember the correct meanings of words. The one I used, however, is a disorder in which fantasy becomes confused with reality.
The Seven Deadly Sins- Part 3 of 7 up! Lust: I can't believe I wrote that! I've never written anything even bordering on sexual before! Anyway, I heard somewhwere that the color actually assoctiated with Lust is blue. So when I tried to associate blue with Lust I automatically thought of blue fire... Gluttony: I made myself hungry writing this... Anyway, gluttony is basically overindulgence in anything, so I tried to reference an abundance of more than just food. Also, it's a lack of restraint. And I heard that red glass is really expensive because of the minerals needed to make that color, so I figured it would work well. Avarice: This is basically the incredible urge to posses material wealth. Thus, I thought that the repetition of 'I wish' would help get this point across. Also, I apparently have a new favorite noun...
Preternatural- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. Mr. Haskett wanted us to write a poem based off of one of his record album covers. I chose Brand X: Livestock. The cover features a lovely black and white picture of an open car door suspended in midair with a pair of women's legs visible through it. In the background is some lovely farmland. I tried to incorporate the songs on the album into the poem. A picture of the cover can be found here: http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/080/85471.jpg" target="new">http://cover6.cduniverse.com/MuzeAudioArt/080/85471.jpg
Government Bureau- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. This is a poem about George Tooker's Government Bureau. All I could think of when I was looking at that painting was that annoying, flickering light that always seems to pop up when I'm at a government building...
Per Amore- Complete! Done for Creative Writing. I started this poem and it somehow became about a student of some sort trying to confess her love. I have no idea how it happened. I couldn't come up with a title in English, so I thought that maybe something in Italian or Latin would be approriate. Finally, after messing around with a dictionary, I decided on 'Per Amore,' the Italian phrase meaning 'for love.'
