| David S Brown |
Author has written 2 stories for Fantasy. About the Author David S Brown was born and raised in the slums of London, but eventually battled his way into higher education at East London University, where he studied Graphic Fine Art. Shortly after graduation, he realised that he hated modern art, and couldn't quite remember why he had chosen it as a profession - so he decided to be a writer instead. And thus, The Science of Magic was born. Still an unpublished author (hint hint), David works part time cleaning windows, while the remainder of his hours are spent slaving over a keyboard, a hot cup of coffee, and a factual compendium regarding the fantasy world of Sheol, which he compiled over a period of three years. Sheol has, in essence, become a living, breathing, imaginary world in his own mind, with intricate histories, races, religions and languages. Seeker is the first book of The Science of Magic trilogy, which will soon be followed by Champion (in his words: "makes Seeker look like the warm-up act"). For the future, David hopes to become a popular, published author, buy a boat, and write books full time while sailing around the world, singing drunken pirate songs. Yes, he is a geek. Synopsis: The Science of Magic, Volume I Enter the world of Sheol: a dangerous land, where hatred and immorality are abundant, corruption and war are commonplace, and slavery is but a way of life. From the continent of Ryadell, the power-hungry race of Humans come, pushing deep into the lands of all other races, their eye fixed on the dominance of the entire known world. On the edge of Human lands, far to the cold north, a young boy is snatched from his quiet home and taken captive by a band of mysterious mages. Unknown to him, he will never again return to see his family, and instead travels to the island of Southkeep, where he will be forced to learn control of his own strange gifts. But darker, sinister magics soon take an interest in Fane, forcing him deeper into a path he would not have chosen. Many secrets will be revealed to Fane in his journey which he will come to wish he had never unearthed … secrets for which the boy is hunted … secrets, which will affect not just his fate, but the fate all living things. Synopsis: The Science of Magic, Volume II: Champion Champion continues the tale of two brothers, who, separated by an entire continent, both come to discover that there is more to their cruel world than meets the eye. While one brother uses his strength to reap vengeance on this cruel world, the other struggles valiantly to save it, and his brother. The artefact had revealed the truth: there are no gods. The gods are nothing but greedy, corrupt men. Worse, these men use the world of Sheol as a playhouse stage, pulling the strings as puppeteers seeking to entertain an audience. But yet another truth had been revealed to Fane. Although nearly everyone the boy had ever cared about was dead, there was one who had survived; his Brother. But there is only one way Fane can ever see Boseraphim again; he must trick an island of impossibly powerful mages and become one of them, even at the risk of being drawn to their cause. But while Fane Vale struggles to free himself from his island prison and come to the aid of his Brother, Boseraphim Vale must struggle against a far more potent array of dark enemies. While his mysterious powers slowly corrupt him, vengeance festers, and both are fuelled inexorably on by the unstoppable puppeteers themselves: The Guardians, who seemingly have a vested interest in both the Vale brothers...
