"Many people hear voices when no-one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing." -Meg Chittenden

First, I should give you the standard warnings: I have a chronic case of Short Stories. I have frequent conversations with people who don't, technically, exist, and I have never once attempted to seek help for this affliction.

Also, I'm a subtext junkie. We're those weird people who read Victorian lit for the purpose of picking out those little bits of subtext that hint at all of the sexual repression of the time. And, er, then we giggle at it, and share it with other subtext junkies. We're like squealing yaoi fangirls, except not always female, generally writing for an academic audience, and more inclined to write formal papers about it. We call it "male homosocial subtext", you see, instead of slashiness, although basically they are the same thing. (I wrote my junior research thesis comparing the intense slash potential in the Sherlock Holmes and Raffles stories, and got a good grade. I may be slightly twisted, or at least mildly bent.)

If you are so inclined, you can probably find a lot of not-so-hidden subtext in my writings. Well, yes. I know it's there, and it's deliberate. My writing occasionally tends to wax slashtastic. It's certainly ignorable, though, if you'd prefer not to see it.

Oh, right, I was going to think up some normal things about myself. Ahem, well then: I like music, manga, animals, and utter silliness. I have a job that I am quite inexplicably satisfied with, am vastly underpaid per my education level, and can claim a pair of completely useless degrees. I'm an unabashed Anglophile, and to shamelessly swipe a quote from Jonathan Ames, I had an American childhood, "years before my sense of myself as an American got somewhat clouded by reading too many British novels." Indeed. All right, that's all.

Updated 2008: My word, this account still exists. Fancy that. Having discovered that, I may actually post a few, more recent stories.

Note: Almost everything I've written lately (i.e., for the past few years) has been somehow connected to the Simon&Cade universe, which is the story that starts in Chainlink. So, don't go looking for anything else to ever be written about the other stories. However, if you're at all interested in Simon, or Cade, or lots of people they know who don't appear in that story, then head toward my more recent stuff.

Also, everything I've written can be found on my blog, which I've listed as my homepage. Check that out if you want to see the complete lot.
