Author has written 9 stories for Essay, and Biography.

The Tower is the fulcrum of an infinite number of universes.

It holds all of time and all of place in its place and in its time.

Profile Updated: 25 May 2009

Hello, I'm Casky (the Great, haha). I'm at the infamous age of 19 (if you don't know the significance of 19, read the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I recommend it to everyone). I'm a sophomore in college studying journalism, specifically radio/TV. As of this account, I am an essayist, especially since I'm in college and that's just what you write. I seem to write a lot about health issues on my own time, especially ones that I have dealt with in my lifetime. Surprisingly I haven't had to do a lot of academic writing so far in my college career (which is ironic, given my major). I've been writing for about ten years now, fiction, poetry, and nonfiction (well, okay, not ALL of those for ten years--but altogether, 1999-2009).

You never realize how short your papers really are until you single-space them again.

If you want to read my fiction, the account is Sacha Lynn (http://www.fictionpress.com/~sachalynn). Most of it's not there, because I don't get a lot of reviews and I get bored and irritated and take everything down. I also have my stuff sort of portfolio'd and linked around here: http://www.echofield.wordpress.com. I haven't started anything new lately, so it hasn't been updated recently, except for a "Stuff You Can Buy" page (real articulate, no?).

My AIM is Casky the Great, MSN/Windows Live is baptism.of.blades@live.com. I'm basically free to talk all summer (but during the semester, you're better off e-mailing: lotus_madder@yahoo.com).

2 February 2009

I'm going to revise & rewrite my essay with the long title about vamipirism. It is an interesting subject, but it was poorly researched (I had all of one source) and somewhat poorly written (I had the flu at the time). I also have an essay that I'm going to move from my other account and give it a snazzier title; "Why You Should Learn a 2nd Language" is a little trite. And of course, my essay on Vassili Zaitsev that's also on my other account shall be moved here. Then once my essays feel special enough, someday I'll self-publish a little book of my essays, as short as they are anyway. These will be edited eventually.

Come to think of it, I might write an essay on the multiverse theory if I could find enough information on it. (Then I could cite the Dark Tower series, ha ha. Every universe is a blade of grass...) And yes, I am going to list every essay I write below this horizontal line.

Essays

Argumentative, "Physician-Assisted Suicide: Compassion, Not Crime" is the culmination of two other research projects (an exploratory essay and a persuasive letter to one of my state Senators) that I did for my English 101 course this semester (Fall 2008). It's an argument for (obviously) physician-assisted suicide (not euthanasia). Medical

Scientific, "The Scientific Truths Behind The Belief in Vampires Throughout the Ages" is from 2006; I wrote it as an entry into an essay contest because I had to for a grade in science. I got a 96 on it, although looking at it now it really could use some work. My one source was J. Gordon Melton's Vampire Encyclopedia, which I guess technically could be more than one source, but it still looks bad on a works cited page. The one I have up is the first draft, I'll eventually write a second draft.. eventually. Medical..ish

Narrative, "Who Do You Become When Someone Else Becomes You?" is my personal experience with identity theft. It was originally written as a day by day blog, and so every day that my parents and I dealt with the problem is accounted for. It lasted somewhere between 5-7 days, and technically still isn't over. Hopefully this will open readers' eyes to the fact that ID theft can happen to anyone, at any age, and hopefully give them a glimpse of what they should do if it ever happens to them or to someone they know.

Informative, "Living With Lactose Intolerance": This addresses a wide scope of issues dealing with lactose intolerance: what it is, what types there are, how one becomes lactose intolerant, how one can live with it, and how we lactose intolerant folks can milk the benefits of dairy without partaking of milk. (Ha, I make myself chuckle.) Written Jan. 28, 2009. Medical

Research, "Twittering the News: How Twitter is Affecting the News" is a paper I wrote for JMC102, Information Gathering & Research. The title speaks for itself. The research is very interesting, actually, and I think the benefits of Twitter will eventually come to usefulness for other venues, including fiction writers.

Speeches & Blogs

Persuasive Speech, "Single Parent Adoption" was written for my communications 103 class. It's our persuasive speech we had to give for the end of the semester. I breezed through it, haha, but my friend in the class said my speech itself was alright.

Informative Speech, "What is Amniotic Band Syndrome?" is a general what-is, how it comes about, how it's treated, and has some personal tidbits in it. Medical

Personal Blog, "On Being Ace" is my personal experience, talking about the things I deal with (and the things I don't), as an asexual. I guess it gives a little insight to my emotional world, which is not easy to come by, since I don't often blatantly parade my emotions around like a fagflag.

Narrative Blog, "Part of the Holiday Rush": fourteen hours, five states, three buses, and one begrudging traveling mate. Could it get any more adventurous?

How Twitter is Affecting the News. A research paper I wrote for my information gathering journalism course last semester. The title pretty much says it all. I think it's rather interesting, and I think Twitter could have benefits for fiction writers, too.
