Author has written 27 stories for Humor, Mythology, Supernatural, Fantasy, Essay, General, Love, and General. I should, I suppose, add a little something to this section. I am English, early twenties and a sarcastic bastard. I am obscure, a little self referential, and a lot of my work borders on the parodic. I am deeply cynical about a lot of the cliches that arise in most forms of genre fiction. I have something of a fixation with villains, this is not because I consider myself "evil", it is not because I am somehow "drawn to the dark", rather it is because I am drawn to complexity. Nothing irritates me more than a villain who does evil things just to prove how evil he is. As a result an awful lot of my stories involve my attempting to make the readers sympathise with people they would normally despise. Hmm... I understand it is also de rigeur to put some kind of pithy quote on your profile. How about these... "Truth, they say, is stranger than fiction. This is, of course, untrue. Any real event can be fictionalized, not all fictional events can be realized. What *is* true is that there is an additional strangeness inherant in a strange-but-true story that fiction, in which we expect the outlandish as a matter of course, can never entirely match" I should note for those of you who have been following it that my longer fantasy piece "A Land of Two Suns" is on temporary hiatus, because of my limited access to computers. I'm more in the position to work on short stories at the moment. I have dropped out of poetical mood and back into the fantastical. Land Of Two Suns is still on indefinite hiatus - I may come back to the concept later on or I may not. The current Longer Project that I'm working on is The Grand Tour, it's at once more and less standard than the earlier story. More standard because it involves a group of randoms bodding off around the world for no clear reason, less standard because it (a) has an almost nineteenth century level of technology and (b) the characters really *are* bodding off around the world for no reason, rather than just having a reason that isn't terribly compelling. It borers at times on parody. The story /Fever Dream/ has been removed, I've decided to get off my arse and try getting something published, and there's legal issues, or so I understand. | |||||
