New school year, new profile.

About Me:

My name (as far as you know) is Genevieve Jones, Jenny for short. I like a lot of indie music, but my current obsession is the Love Story theme. I'm learning to play it on the piano. I'm not half bad!

About My Work:

First off, I'd like to apologize to any readers of my stories. Right now, almost all of them are going to be either deleted or put on hiatus. This is because I am undertaking two massive projects. One is a series that you can find out about below and the other is a collection of short stories based on fairytales. I wrote the first one as an assignment for an English class I was taking, and the result is the story, 'A Hill of Roses'. The others will be up at some point in the future.

My poems:
I tend to write poems when I'm bored, usually during math or something. I've had somewhat mixed results, and they can be seen below. My favorite poem is "I'm Nobody! Who are You?" by Emily Dickinson. (It's just great fun. If you don't know what poem it is, you should go look it up. It's great.)

Leilani's Rain: I like this idea. But I don't like the way I wrote it, and I don't have the time or energy to rewrite it. If anyone would like to use the plot, email me and ask me. I will gladly give you the story.

Hypervibe: It's adapted from a fanfiction story by me with the same title. I was banned from ff.net by my parents, but I liked the characters too much just to leave it. So here it is, in all of its glory. I may actually update this whenever I have a bolt of inspiration, but don't count on it. What I'll probably end up doing is taking the characters and putting them in a different story.

Lady Death: I actually turned the prologue into a short story at one point, and I may actually delete the second chapter and turn it into a one-shot.

Falconry: Meh. This story is going to the chop shop, where it will be turned into something entirely new. But I'm keeping the characters.

The Christmas Shoes: A bit of Christmasy crap.

Their Song: A cutesy songfic.

Pending:

Hoist the Anchors: The characters are based from the characters in a skit I did a few years ago in History. I keep trying to write it, and then I get distracted.

A cutesy little story that I don't have a title for. I was thinking, "The Elusive Emmett Grace".

I was also thinking of updating a couple of Shakespeare plays, starting with Much Ado About Nothing.

The above mentioned series, which I haven't picked a title for. But it will be about a world where the gods live among humans, and freely interfere with humans' lives. It's also about how Fate ties people to be together and how to find your other half. Romanticky, yes, but it also should have some action.

Other Stuff:

Book Recommendations:

I discovered, in a forum that I'm in, that a lot of people need book recomendations. So a few of mine:

If you're into retold fairy tales, Robin McKinlely is a good bet. She's great. She's also written a vampire novel called Sunshine that's just fantastic.

Charles de Lint is a good person for urban fantasy. He's written a ridiculous number of books. The ones I've read by him are all good.

Another good person for urban fantasy is Holly Black. I've read Tithe, which is great, but I haven't read Valiant yet.

Juliet Marillier is another good reteller, though really the only one that counts is Daughter of the Forest, which is based on the Wild Swans, but the other books in that trilogy are fantastic.

I've only read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, but I've also read Good Omens, which is written by him and Terry Pratchett, and he seems like he'll be pretty good. I personally enjoyed Neverwhere quite a bit.

And Terry Pratchett, my all-time favorite author. He is the funniest author I've ever read. His books are satires of everything from the mail service to newspapers to time travel and everything in between. I absolutely adore his books. I actually have a shelf in my room that holds nothing but Terry Pratchett's books.

Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Recomendations?

Drop me a line through my email, or leave me a review if there's anything you have to say. However, if you flame me, I will be very amused, unless the flame contains helpful hints (which they rarely do), in which case I will email you to thank you for your help, or I will thank you in the next chapter of the story.

That's all, folks.
