You may be bored - or you could simply be curious. Either way, welcome to this small space of mine. Perhaps you'll find something of interest.
Now, then, as far as updates go: Comfort in the Storm and Acceptance are both finished. They will not be updated again, as CotS was a oneshot and Acceptance was only the prologue - the setting if you will - for a much larger, much more politically dynamic Work that will be coming as soon as I consider myself competent enough to write it. If you are truly interested in reading it, check back every so often.
Poetry will appear as it is written. Most of it is in rhyme, though there are several free-verse experiments and acrostics mixed in. Some of it does tend to the lengthy side. Ware the Fae Folk is my experiment with a long, ballad-like story-poem - it has been compared to both Lord Byron and Poe's "Alone." Be warned - it is long, and it is written in a more formal mode of English than many prefer and use, though I hope that I have used it correctly.
In regards to the series of short stories - they are all from the same universe, and deal with the same two people in various situations. They do deal with somewhat darker themes; but are nonetheless fairly mild, with an average rating of K+ (PG). Warning: these pieces are written as a particularly austere script. There are virtually no cues given save what is in the conversation itself, and if you don't pay attention to the speech and undertones, you'll miss 90 of what's going on. These are, again, updated as they are written, and are posted completely out of temporal order. If you want to read them in the order they were posted - which is the order in which they were written - feel free to do so. You will most likely enjoy them more that way, as you can trace the tensions easier and the undertones. If, after, you want to read them chronologically, the order is posted below:
Secrets
Moonrise
Sunset
Sorrow
Starlight
Silence
These have since been revised into the screenplay Margins. Feel free to perform or interpret it however you want, but please do not pass it off as your own, sell it, etc.
Panegyric and Embers are short, stand-alone stories. I feel that they mark a bit of improvement over the years, though obviously critical reviews would still be fabulous.
Propriety is a short story deliberately posted in small segments varying from 100 to around 2000 words. Yes, it is designed that way. It is rated for the implication of both vampires and sensuality - an interesting note, regarding that story, is that vampires have not yet been explicitly mentioned as real, and one is free to see it as a true-fantasy or only a disturbed girl's hallucinations, at least as of the present chapter. Along that note, it is unlikely that chapters will become longer, though it is possible. Most likely it will end a short story that may or may not be further expanded into a larger Tale, though again, it is possible it will not. I am particularly interested in the tenses and writing style used throughout it, so if you have any comments along that nature (or just comments in general) please feel free to review! I promise I will respond. It is currently incomplete, and it is doubtful it will ever reach a finished status.
You may notice a collection called Dreamings. These are more-or-less pointless drabbles collected into one place. Feel free to suggest some sort of plot; failing that, if you see an idea you like, ask nicely before borrowing.
Please feel free to leave reviews. Feedback is any author's greatest tool in improving her craft, and I'm certainly no exception. Criticism - even though it be harsh - is more than welcome, and if you don't feel comfortable with that, just a dropped line here or there will be received gladly.
"For every minstrel hath his tune;
and some are strong and some are soft,
and each would bear his song aloft,
and each a little while be heard,
though rude the note, and light the word."
So said Lúthien Tinúviel to Morgoth - and though I doubt you are quite so fierce as he, still I would borrow her words and take them for my own. These - are my tunes. Make of them what you will.
Sincerely,
Shadow
