So, I'm a 18 year-old Mechanical Engineering student who doesn't want to be completely dragged into science and math classes, and has turned to my creative writing in order to procrastinate and keep from going insane from doing nothing but physics and calculus. I have two stories and a few poems here now, and have actually been updating my stories at an almost acceptable pace.
I've been writing since I was about 10 or 12 (though nothing I wrote then will ever see daylight again) and have always enjoyed it. I like to think that I've improved quite a bit since then, but I can't say that I've quite reached 'decent writer' status yet. Any comments or suggestions on how to improve my writing would be greatly appreciated (please be honest. I promise not to get mad at you)
Some info about my stories-
"What Ever Happened to Brotherly Love?" -started this one when I was 13 or so...in parts of it, that's painfully obvious. I've been trying to go back and retype/edit/etc. I have finished writing out the first draft, and am slowly getting around to typing up the remaining chapters while also editing the older ones. If I disappear for a while, just e-mail me and remind me to type stuff. I tend to get a little overwhelmed with classes and everything then forget about my writing. I do have an amazing friend who is helping me edit what I've typed so far. She's doing pretty well at keeping me on task so far, so we'll have to hope that continues.
"Running Out of Time" -Is basically on hold for a while...it may be taken down and replaced with another one that I've been working on (and actually have some ideas for). Then again, I've been doing better with it recently, and might decide to continue it.
I am slowly but surely working on editing and retyping previous chapters of these stories, however, I tend to miss some things while I'm proofreading or rereading. If anything doesn't make sense or randomly changes in the middle of a story without me mentioning it (like a name change that I will eventually have to make in Running Out of Time) just try to point it out to me and I'll change it ASAP.
Hope you enjoy reading my stuff here. I am always grateful for comments/constructive criticism/etc. and also am usually good at responding to any questions you may have if you e-mail me. Feel free to e-mail or IM me if you have any specific questions or ideas that you think would help me improve. I'd love you for it!
Now you should go read and review : D
