Upcoming Stories:

(Just for fun, I thought I'd post my ideas for upcoming stories along with descriptions of the plots as a little preview of what's to come.)

The Aviary- (A romance set during 1912-1913 France. Laurent "Laurie" Mottier is a common cobbler living with his large family in Paris, where Laurie and his brothers can often be found lounging at the local brothel or drinking and gambling in the tavern. Although he's not exactly happy, Laurie's content with his life because he doesn't really know what else he wants from it. So when his mother decides that perhaps the country life would be better for him, Laurie shrugs his shoulders and heads off to the small town Amiens to stay with his eldest brother's family . . . Mathilde de Daumier is an innocent and terribly sheltered aristocrat, trapped in an old chateau with her old marquis father, a nobleman and an artist. She has no friends to speak of except her servants and spends her days very languidly and quietly- sewing, reading, painting, playing the piano. She hasn't ever stepped outside the grounds of the chateau, nor met anyone else living in Amiens. Her life is pure and quiet and simple, but she doesn't quite realize the oddity of this because she's never known anything else . . . Curious about the mysterious Mathilde, who everyone in town knows absolutely nothing of, Laurie begins to watch her and, when the opportunity arises, he accepts a position in her house as a servantboy. They soon become friends and, very naturally, that friendship evolves into love . . . But while this happening, Laurie begins to notice some odd things occuring. He doesn't understand why Mathilde's father, Alain, could be so terribly cruel to her, to keep her locked up and hidden away so. He doesn't quite understand the story of Mathilde's mother, Charlotte, who died many years before supposedly of a simple illness. And then there's the housemaid, Virginie, who's lived in the house for over twenty years. She once held the job of being Charlotte's personal maid, but now she seems to be half-mad, wandering around the house at night, weeping beside the grave of her former mistress, and hearing screams from the attic that no one else can hear. Knowing there's more to the story of Mathilde's parents than she's letting on to him, perhaps even more than she knows herself, Laurie sets out to find the truth and discover the mystery behind the de Daumier family . . . This story will be told in seven parts, with varying points-of-view, switching back and forth in time to tell the story of Monsieur de Daumier's past, Laurie and Mathilde's current romance, and a side story involving Mathilde's servants Agnès, Théodore, and Damien.)

St. Agnes's Eve- (Louisa Maitland is raised in a very sad house. When she is two years old, her mother dies giving birth to her younger sister. The baby is very sickly, but Mr. Maitland tries to care for her as well he can, so as not to be torn apart by his grief. Unfortunately, the baby soon dies as well, leaving Mr. Maitland, his son Colin, and Louisa as the only remaining members of the family. Mr. Maitland begins to go a bit mad shortly after this, resorting to alcohol and isolation to drown out his sorrows. Poor Louisa is left to be raised by the housekeeper and other servants of their house, Bridlewood, which is located in the countryside of England. Her only companions are her brother, Colin, and her maid, Jane. But things change on Louisa's seventeenth birthday. Her cousin, who she didn't know existed until now, has lost both her parents due to illness and is coming to stay at the house. The girl, Caroline Bell, is the same age as Louisa and the two soon become the closest of friends. They almost act like twins. They have no other acquaintances but the servants and each other and the only boys they know are Colin and their cousin, Harry Llewellyn, who comes to visit very seldomly. Both are very innocent of the outside world. Thus, when a young country boy is hired to help with the garden, they're both very curious. Like any two girls with ideas of romance, they're very excited to meet Michael Macauley, who is four years their senior and quite handsome. Soon, it seems that Michael has become smitten with Louisa. Although she feels bad for spending less time with Caroline, Louisa soon becomes infatuated with Michael and finds herself falling in love with him. He wants her to run away with him, away from the isolation of Bridlewood, to London, but Louisa doesn't want to leave Caroline. She's lost between her struggling friendship with Caroline and her love for Michael . . . However, the story does not end here. This is only the beginning, in fact. "St. Agnes's Eve" is a mystery story at its base, including everything from deception to betrayal, thievery to murder. And of course there will be romance as well! I couldn't write a story without a little love now, could I? Takes place in Victorian England.)
